If you are looking for an AVR i would still go for the 3800. That is an amazing deal.

Been 779€ this weekend at both Darty/Fnac and Boulanger, but it is now even cheaper at Amazon FR (dispatched and sold by Amazon, so no scam there) !
Now 800€ shipping included.
How does it behave only as a processor?
Kind of okay, all of the preamp distortions are non critical and below audibility, but it's worse than the 3700x and far from clean. Still it's probably the best budget prepro you can get right now. I won't get it since I have the 3700x already, doing a great job.
Amazing deal. It works great as processor and think it has pre-amp mode by the channel, not all or nothing like the previous series. Audy onboard and Dirac with working DLBC solution. Quite stable and great value.
It's possible to disable either only the front channels or all channels. DIRAC would have been my primary reason for purchasing. However, the absence of a dynamic loudness EQ makes me very hesitant.
It should perform well in terms of transparancy based on the specs and measurements and for real world use. 70 dB SINAD is no where near SOTA but in a DBT it would be hard to tell, based on published DBT test results and if anyone know of such tests with credible conclusions I would love to see links to those.
The 3800 is a budget friendly high value AVR, but on money no object basis, I would still prefer the A10H, C30 or even the 4800, C40 etc., but I would use any of them with high quality 3 channel power amp.

I was eyeing refurbished x3800h for ~700€ in one of the shops in France, and on that Sunday the price dropped to 550€. So that's what I paid and today it arrived to Lithuania.
