ESS ES9039PRO and ES9027PRO announced

AKM have a new DAC.
Now ESS have a new DAC.

I suspect that supply price will determine which gets the most installations. Which may (or may not) see the better DAC struggle for representation.

It's going to be interesting to see comparisons, that's for sure!

The ES9822 datasheet was most likely created along with datasheet for the almost identical 4channel ES9842 - some of the 4ch registers were changed in the document to "reserved", but all of them in fact work and some need to be used.

Sabre DACs have been multichannel for a long time, at least since ES9018 which has been 10+ years now. The manufacturer can use the parallel decoding to sum and get lower noise and distortion.
Better thermal noise performance, sure. However, meticulous circuit routing and ground plane design are the keys to eeking out the best noise performance. Oppo Digital really used to emphasize that.

And now launched.

Any products hit the market with these yet? Adoption of the ES9068AS has been slow so I’m not sure how easy it is to develop products based on the new ESS platforms.

There's a some on Shenzhen Audio

But that’s about it. No widespread adoption on the scale of earlier ESS stereo DACs and the ES9068AS has been on the market for a while.
And AKM is back online.

There's a few AK4493S (new) DACs out already, in short time.

I've got the SMSL D-6 and its fantastic. Insane value. USB-C and balanced out.

And no ESS hump :D

Indeed, new release based on AKM AK4493S.

Well, you have to know that S.M.S.L or Topping DACs don't stay "the newest" for long...

I'm already surprised the "new" SU-10 doesn't have a pro version yet.

I will get excited when they use the AKM 4499EX chips in something with a fancy case.

Measurements are impressive, except maybe for lots of random spikes in the jitter test. SINAD for balanced output almost at 124. So we have extremely low noise and distortion.
