ESS/ AMT test tracks

The AMT is indeed a unique HF driver. What test tracks highlight it's capability? What are some of yours?

AMT's quite suited for techno/electro tracks because of the range the great synthesizers are capable of.

I particularly like this TEEMID track and his use of his signature orchestral hit with the long tail reverb.

Neil Tennants voice thru his million dollar reverbs are also a delight. The falsettos of Moses Sumney sounds great on ESS/ AMT's. What about Insomnia?

I use a 300B tube amp to feed my ATM's, a very good way to smooth out what some people describe the aggressive sound of AMT's.

I would not agree the ESS AMT V1 can be blamed for an aggressive sound.
It has very low distorsions and this might be irritiating in comparison to 'what we are used to'.
The main problem to go with the ESS AMT is the bipolar radiation (so reflections from the surface of the enclosure and elsewhere count) and the low quality control without sufficient series consistency.
Without mic and DSP you're almost lost.

Hi Salt,

Thanks for your thoughts! I love ESS AMT's but there is a flaw somewhere in the frequency response. A DSP may help, but I don't use them. The tube amps seem to tame it a bit.
Some genius speaker designer should remake the ESS AMT.

If You mean the AMT speaker: there is a DIY alternatively.
If You mean the ESS AMT V1: there is no alternative.
