I don't think this will sell well. No, not because it is too expensive, but because it is too cheap. The person that could afford this would rather get something more expensive

Do Neumann or others still make cutting lathes? Just buy the platter and drive system and mount your foo tonearm on that! If it's good enough and quiet to cut the master acetate the bloody records these people play on them ar emade from, it's MORE than good enough as a playback base, surely?

So a 'true audiophile' would not rest until they had obtained the actual cutting lathe that the acetate master of their vinyl was pressed from :)

They used to use a decent (direct) drive in later examples and are VERY heavy of course, but of course they don't look the part and aren't covered in acres of chrome or brushed finishes...

The tolerances of these lathes should be more than tight enough that it wouldn't matter in trying to obtain the very item their precious vinyl was mastered on.

How much are used Neumann lathes anyway? Under twenty grand I'm sure and you wouldn't need the cutter parts :D
