EQ Software for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS/iPadOS and Android.

Does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut to bring up MathAudio Room EQ interface on the screen in Foobar2000 instead of having to go into Preferences/DSP Manager first?

I was able to create a Foobar2000 keyboard shortcut to bring up the DSP Manager, but not able to have it open up MathAudio Room EQ in one go.

File/Preferences/Keyboard Shortcuts/Assigned shortcuts panel/Add new and define your own shortcut. Select View/DSP/DSP #1 config as the action if MathAudio Room EQ is your first DSP effect on the list. You can also save your complete DSP chain preset and assign it to some shortcut to apply it directly in one go.

How do I do that? Right now MathAudio Room EQ does not show up under View/DSP. The only thing that's there is Equalizer which is the Foobar2000 built-in EQ.

Sorry, realized right now you have to install foo_dsp_effect VST 2.4 adapter plugin for this option(s) to appear. DSP #1 config is the first active DSP from your DSP Manager list, DSP #2 config is the second active DSP from the list and so on...

Installed foo_dsp_effect plugin and saved a DSP chain preset under "DSP Manager". Still not seeing what you are seeing. Under "View" it just shows the standard DSP effects that are part of the foo_dsp_effect plugin.

Now, I am seeing the DSP presets under "Playback/DSP Settings", but creating keyboard shortcuts to these doesn't actually do anything. The shortcut saves, but pressing those assigned shortcut keys doesn't bring up anything.

Huh, weird, seems it is not a part of this plugin then :oops:. I scratch my head where those options come from. Uninstalled this plugin now and still have these options. What version of f2k do you have installed? I have the latest 1.6.2.

Yup, just figured it out, too. Got it all working now - even ability to switch between several different MathAudio Room EQ presets just by using keyboard shortcuts - that's what the Playback-->DSP Settings stuff is for - when you press those keyboard shortcuts nothing pops up on the screen, but it does switch to that respective EQ preset. Awesome! Thank you.

OKidoki. I got the, "Pulseaudio Parametric Equalizer is a python GUI to insert a 3 band PEQ w/ high/low shelves into the pulseaudio audio server."
The crossover software I never added because this is a EQ thread.
After suggestions from some peeps about adding crossover software it might be good to create a thread for crossover software. :D

I'll suggest another software for those who are more hands on, MathWorks has an Audio Toolbox that can produce or host audio plugins. So you can deploy your own VST, AU or standalone plugins directly from MATLAB code. There are also tunable filters, etc., so often there is little code to write to get going, but it's definitely for those who want/can develop their own thing.

DSP for Volumio (previously Brutefir3)
BruteFIR - the convolution engine used by daphile, Volumio's DSP plugin, an LMS plugin and probably others, also manually configurable in a custom alsa config, JACK etc. You can also use it to make crossovers.
BrutefirDRC - the LMS plugin that uses BruteFIR running on the server, configurable per endpoint. Archimago has a howto.
Jconvolver - formerly Zita-convolver, the convolution engine used in PulseEffects, which can also be used with JACK.
Alsaequal - an equalizer you can add to the alsa config. Basic usage is a fixed band graphic equalizer, but it can be used to give a control interface to any other LADSPA plugin via the usual alsa mixer interface. The normal alsa config for ladspa plugins only allows fixed configurations, although for something like an active crossover that's probably an advantage.

Plus there's a whole host of LADSPA plugins you can use via JACK, alsaequal, or with a fixed configuration in the alsa config file. A good example is the PE32LR parametric equalizer from the Linux Studio Plugins Project which provides the parametric equalizer for PulseEffects.

MacOS: (System wide parametric EQ solutions on OSX typically rely on separate plugin hosting software and the actual plugin which does the actual equalization.)

Audio plugin hosts include:
MenuBus has a free version but is no longer actively developed.
SoundSource is in active development but not free.
Hosting AU with BlackHole or Soundflower can be used as a system wide AU plugin host.

EQ plugins include:
Voxengo PrimeEQ is a parametric EQ plugin but is not free.
Fabfilter Pro Q3 is another parametric EQ plugin, more expensive than Voxengo but might be easier to install and use.
LAConvolver plugin is a free convolver EQ which works with impulse response WAV files.
EQE is a system wide parametric equalizer on iOS but requires jailbreaking.

REW is free room acoustics analysis software for measuring and analysing room and loudspeaker responses.

Audirvana can do bit-perfect and exclusive access but can't do system level hosting.
Audiohijack can host system level DSP, including those EQs. The only downside is that isn't "bit-perfect."
