Right now I am using the Realtek software that came with my asus motherboard, and it works quite well for controlling my 5.1 surround sound on the PC - I can adjust the delay/distance as well as the decibels.

Although it's basic, it is really useful - but I was wondering if there was anything similar to what i have on the Yamaha V6A (YPAO), which allows for much better control over each speaker's EQ/sound signature?

Is there anything like this available?

Oh for sure, it’s also free and is called Equalizer APO. Or EAPO.

There is a very slight learning curve as it is not the most in your face user friendly.

We do have a software EQ/PEQ section. If you want it to be graphical then install Peace EQ. It is a GUI for EAPO
Also take note of DDF's excellent thread on how to substitute EAPO's audio processing objects for those in Windows thereby fixing the Windows mixer.

Are you suggesting I add this as a link @ the EQ page?

I think that would be a mistake. Whilst the post and thread does talk about using eapo, it's not for eq purposes. And it opens up the eq thread to endless discussion about the quality of the windows stack.

Whether you do or don't, it's not a bad idea to be aware that the Windows stack can be fixed without bypassing it entirely.
Can you give me a abbreviated title for this process so I can add it to the EQ webpage? I'm not sure what to call this process.

How about "Upgrading Windows Mixer APOs"?
I added the info at the bottom of the EQ/PEQ list. Is this satisfactory?

Great, thank you. Hope people find it useful.
