End Game Speaker Quest - The Final Chapter

Hey PJ! A bit of delay on the cabinets, expected to be in Soundfield hands next 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed for January to have speakers in my possession. End December might be possible, but I think optimistic.

This is probably none of my beeswax, but obviously that didn't stop me:

Ime the WORST time of the year for shipping expensive speakers is the last two weeks before Christmas. The people in the shipping companies simply do not have time to be careful.

The SECOND-WORST time of the year is the week between Christmas and New Year's. This is when the "A-team" finally get their holiday season vacation, so it's the "B-team" - the new guys, those with less seniority/experience - who are running the show.

Don't ask me how I acquired these particular insights.

Anyway, even if they are ready to ship mid-December, I suggest waiting another three weeks or so.

Wyślij Amira (Erin) i klippela do swojego padoku. Zapłać za przelot i nakarm go. Mam złe przeczucia co do wyników pomiarów, biorąc pod uwagę koszt tych głośników.
Strange comment. The more expensive the speaker, the greater the chance of poorer measurements? If so, what's your basis?

Reading some people's comments, you might get the impression that you literally have to buy Genelec, Neumann, or Revel because everyone knows the measurements/performance, and that's the only correct choice. Okay, I don't know, but in my opinion, the DIY option might actually be better—objective measurements—than all the off-the-shelf speakers available on the market. And there's something cool about owning unique speakers that no one else has.

Nice. You have also a rear tweeter? It's really a great option. Make a difference.

As soon as I have them in my possession! Seriously, for those that are in the area (Boise,ID to be exact), or even those that are willing to travel, y’all are welcome to stop by for a listen any time.
Have you posted pics ?

Hello sir! Long time no talk, hope you are well and enjoying your Soundfields. Yup, my Soundfield design will include rear drivers.

Thanks Duke! Interesting. Will certainly keep this in mind. Sadly it seems there are few shipping companies left anymore you can trust, regardless of time of year. And no matter how well you pack they find a way to cause damage. UPS and FedEx are especially bad shipping large fragile items and not damaging

Sounds like a business opportunity. High value car shippers already seem to be doing well. A business centered on delivering high value assets in general might have enough volume to build out a truck network where over-the-road foremen preserve quality of service besides the drivers. Would be a bit expensive. Perhaps someone already does it.

If I purchased something of that cost I would hope they would send pictures of the entire process. Did they not provide cabinetry pictures?

Sorry, not sure what you mean by “entire process”? Certainly I have cab design pictures.

Pictures of the cabinets and of the assembly
Not sure why I would have pics of “assembly” (I guess you mean during construction process? I don’t really care about that). And again, I have pics of cabs.

It is common for builds to have pictures of assembly. People enjoy it. Could you share the cabinets?
