End Game (For Now) Streamer/DAC/Preamp? Eversolo DMP-A10

Reducing room gain ( boomy bass) is almost certainly the most tangible improvement you will ever make.

You really need to read up on REW and what it can do.
Keith

What could it do if you were able to use it, you might ask. It's not an app for inexperienced children.

REW is simply the best whichever components you use with it.

Ok, thank you. My main challenge at the moment is that I a have just received my new speakers and I am now sourcing the rest of the components. I have probably gone trough everything and have researched almost any device and tried out RoomPerfect a year ago with other speakers. I really didn't like it at all and preferred the boomy bass as RP killed all the upper frequencies.

What I actually would like to have is a streamer or streaming dac that I can use to correct the following signals and have a separate sub out:
1) Streaming (Built in)
1) HDMI (TV)
2) Phono (Line in or MM)

I landed at either Eversolo A10 or Wiim Ultra. Being rational I would get the Wiim Ultra. What holds me back is just the question:
1) Can I solve the bad line in and phono mm measurements by using a separate phono pre? I guess probably not.
2) Is the PEQ from WiiM enough to correct my bass issues in my room or do I need FIR import functionality or just in general more powerful correction from Eversolo?

Or do you think I basically just should drop the 300$ and try and upgrade if needed as it is anyway very cheap to buy a WiiM. And critics as well as functionality is in my opinion way above Eversolo A10 compared on a price level. I mean Obviously the better device, but to get a proper sub out from Eversolo there's basically only the A10.

Thank you for your thought's in advance. I anyway would try to measure and create a correction in Rew (myself with some training or trough a pro) and convert the values to the PEQ or export a FIR convolution filter if import on the device is supported.

You can solve the phone MM situation with an external phone pre. The line in is what it is. What you are calling "bad" exceeds the performance of vinyl as a medium (as well as most other traditional analogue sources) by about 15dB. So not bad at all for your application.

Thank you for the answer. So more of a non audible thing than really audible when using a good phono pre into line in.

Exactly

What I still try to figure out: Is Evotune that much besser than Wiims Roomfit or Wiims PEQ feeded with my own value? And how about the DAC. Should I rather get the Wiim Ultra and use a decent separate dac than DMP A10?

You will achieve better results using REW and a microphone and manually inputting the filters.

Hi Keith,
Just to be clear: I could do either with Wiim (PEQ only) or Eversolo (FIR). Do you have any preference or would I also get along in a good way by measuring with REW and manually set the PEQ from there to WIIMs PEQ?

I just started with some Buchardt E50 and don't want to invest in things I absolutely cannot hear or would not profit for the coming few months. Especially, when does guys release device after device in china. ;-)

For the most part you would only want to reduce room gain’ boomy bass’ in the very low bass region, REW creates the filters you need from the room measurement.
I find that much more successful than any ‘auto’ correction i have tried.
Keith

AHHHH but there's one other thing some of you guys didnt seem to point out...

where i am you can sort of buy SMSL Aiyima type stuff locally with local sales tax and warranty but they are all the small dealers... ie. companies you cant trust

What I see from Eversolo and admittedly Wiim is that they have the big distro channels out there and so I can tell you that the Ultra is $329 usd but $599 here (and still subject to discount)

the DMP-A6 is $850 usd???? But like $1,200 here? and so with that it lends legitimacy... since they are sold next to Harmon Sony Panasonic and all the usual establisment

you have local staff in B&M pushing Eversolo... and so you have to dig a little deeper to work of they are a brand of a company called Zidoo...
What's your signature about?
