End Game (For Now) Streamer/DAC/Preamp? Eversolo DMP-A10

Looking at the price tag I'm sticking with my Wiim Ultra.
Well since the Eversolo can't put out audibly better sound, then the Ultra seems a much better choice.

At a fraction of the price. I also suspect that the WiiM will receive more firmware updates and functionality expansion. But that’s just my opinion. :p

A comprehensive and well-built machine. Streamer, dac, room correction, preamp, lots of inputs and outputs in a single box.

I think Eversolo realizes it can't win vs Wiim on the SQ game and UX game. So it's down to functionality and "feel good" factor. Even then on functionality, it is quite arguable that the Wiim UX, firmware update/roadmap, built-in DSP are better than anyone else in the game or at least as good. So that only leaves double sub-out, better build quality, Airplay and a few cosmetic bells and whistles.

Eversolo is clearly targeting and building towards the higher-end market (Aurender, Auralic, Innuos, even HiFi Rose, etc) and isn't bothering to compete with the Wiim, Cambridge and Bluesound price-driven crowd (the A6 already does that). Not everyone is obsessed with price and "value" , and for whom pride of ownership is very important. Now to don my flameproof suit......

Wiim Eversolo ( A-6 and A-8) no difference in SQ, so what’s left, features, aesthetics ( pride of ownership) UI, I will probably get an A-10 if nothing else but to play around with its room correction and sub integration features.
You pay your money and makes your choice, in terms of business there is simply no point for me in stocking the Wiim products even though they are exceptional and I use them here.
The margins on the Eversolo gear on the other hand allow me to send units out for evaluation, optimise people’s systems with their EQ features etc etc.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 now has a firmware update for room correction. With that said, is the A10 really worth the price over the A8?

Absolutely not, unless sub connections are worth €1500 extra to you. Subjective, but it's also way uglier. Mess of different design cues.

Still haven't seen any useful examination of the room correction in A10 (or now A8), is it remotely comparable to Dirac or Lyngdorf?

From what I understand, the room correction on the A8 is EQ / DSP based. So I do not believe each separate speaker is individually impacted. As for the A10 room correction not sure if it is the same or different. Not one review for either's room correction. I just like the A8 because of the way it sounds on my brother's system, they screen, and the other features. Soon I want to do a deep dive into the differences between Lyngdorf's RoomPerfect, Dirac, and the EverSolo room correction,

Does anybody have one of these? What's it like? I'm torn between this, the A8 or a MiniDSP SHD. Youtubers like to talk about how they can hear minute audible differences, but would my mere mortal ears actually notice any difference between this and an SHD? The a8 looks good but the lack of being able to add subs...

No, and nor will the ears of the deluded youtubers.

Nor would any of you be able to tell an audible difference to the Wiim pro plus (for example) for a device at a significantly lower price level.

Make your choice based on UI, features, aesthetics, brand, perceived build quality, after sales support, price etc. But sound quality is not something to worry about.**

** Edit: Except for a basic check of the measured performance on the analogue output if you are intending to use that. Just to ensure it is not a dud. I don't think any of the devices we've mentioned fall even close to that category.

It is exactly what you would expect from an expensive high-end car. Precise, detailed sound, first-rate construction and worthy remote control supplied, very nice and right in weight. A8 is a good car, had previously, but with A10 we are on another level. Even when used as a simple player, with an external DAC, the USB is definitely better than that of the A8.
Obviously this is my personal opinion, listening and checking the construction consistency of the device is worth more than any other words.
I have not had the opportunity to try the SFP Fiber Optic Network interface. I would like to point out that the subwoofer function is only available for PCM signals lower than 192KHz.

How can the USB be 'better' if it's still outputting a digital signal? Or are you saying the USB-out on the a8 is flawed?

The measurements of both the A6 and A8 are superb, audibly transparent, the A10 is more of a pride of ownership product, the USB ‘isolation’ might make a difference but I severely doubt it, I will ,ake a proper comparison this coming week.
Buy for aesthetics, features required.
