Enameled Magnet Wire as speaker cables/wires?

Just speculating, but it sounds like there may have been a high resistance due to the enamel not being completely removed before termination. That high resistance, in addition to causing audible issues, may have resulted in that connection getting rather warm. That, in turn, may have resulted in the remaining enamel on the termination migrating away. Am I off base or is this plausible?

Wire gauge is basically a db scale, so 1 db per gauge number i.e. 12 gauge is 2db more cross sectional area than 14 gauge, or a difference of 3 gauges numbers will double the cross section (and hence the current capacity) . So, 2 strands of 19 gauge will be about 16 gauge.

But why? 14 gauge lamp cord is like a buck a foot and unless you're running long distances or pushing a lot of power it's all you need.

Are you sure there was no sleight of hand, an accomplice switching in an EQ?
I kept looking at that and it was quick switches too. I doubt it was something else but could be. I was not the only one who heard the difference either. Not to mention my wife who has better ears than me and don't know anything technical or know about tweaks are BS or not, cable debate, etc. she could hear the difference also.

That could be but would I hear any sound at all if that was the case? However, the weird thing is to read that guy's review on Amazon and I remembered immediately what he meant. So, I am pretty sure all the coating was off.

Here is the full review btw. Attached.

Bi-wiring. Sheesh. This guy has quite the imagination.

I have never heard any sound difference between bi-wire vs. non-biwire. I have bi-wireable speakers and I prefer to biwire because I don’t like to use jumpers.

You still have jumpers, just very long ones
Not because of sound or anything like that. Just don’t like checking them to see if they are still snug. My speakers didn’t come with their original ones because bought them used so I made my own from CAT5 cables and spades. You know too much don’t you?

Cat 5 cable is 24 or 26 gauge. Might not make a difference for a short run, but why would anyone use cat 5 cable for speaker level? Makes even less sense than 19 gauge magnet wire.

I combined all for one channel. Probably 15awg or something per channel. 19awg and jumpers are totally different stories. I don't have any 19awg manget cables anymore and I did say I put them together few years ago they became around 16awg when combined together.

One day the wifes will unite and sue their husbands for using them to support their lies.

Are you a comedian?
It's just that you are inadvertently using some of the oldest tropes in HiFi.

Wife can hear from the kitchen being possibly the oldest.

It really was funny. Please don't take offense though. This is the trap that HiFi sales has laid for all of us.
Of course, you could record or measure the alleged differences and prove to yourself if they exist or not. Microphones don't lie, and are orders of magnitude more sensitive than our ears, and can be used for direct comparisons, unlike our ears.

I have nothing to sell and nothing to promote. I have no desire to make you believe anything. I don’t care what you think as long as what I hear is what I like. You can just skip and move on. No?

Few years ago, at an audio show I was in this room. The owner was demonstrating these little things. First, let me tell you the owner (forgot his name) is a sleek guy and looks like he sells you snake oil. I personally find him irritating. The room was full of people. Unless he was doing something else in the system, my wife and I were shocked to hear a difference. I am not saying these things made it worse or better but it was definitely different. I don't even know how they work and you could not convince me these dots would make a difference if I did not hear them with and without but I know what I heard.

LOL Thed at Synergistic is just a con man, who knows what he did other than put an idea in your mind.

But you are arguing for people to believe you, without evidence. On an evidence-based forum. I can also stay and see if evidence happens.

I'm a member of a woodworker forum too, we had a member claim their special sawblade lasted over 10 years with no sharpening and still cut as good as the day they bought it. I don't move on from that either since that forum is about... Woodworking.

Back to Audio Science Review. Any evidence you want to share on your claims about sound differences with cables? We could actually help you figure out what has changed.

I don’t like him either and I even said that. He didn’t say anything and I accidentally went to his room. I was actually telling myself “yeah BS” but I have heard it. Don’t believe me. You don’t have to.

I am not arguing with anyone. You are trying to create an argument. You don’t have to comment on my thread. Is there a rule you need to?

But you have no idea what you "heard" so why should I believe you? Not a matter of "having" to, but simply can't as there's nothing credible to go on.
