Just became aware of this thread. My job brings me too close to emergencies. My home and life reflect that.
Poured concrete and steel construction of our home, including the roof; all windows are hurricane spec, roofs drain (plumbed) to canal to keep lot reasonably dry. Lot raised 10' over 100-year flood elevation line. Large generator, very large fuel tank; ability to choose which circuits are powered by generator (even though I can run the entire home), provisions to use pool water for sanitary system, batteries, inverters, non perishables, camping type water filtration kits and bottled water. Good first aid kits and extinguishers. And other measures...
Not a prepper per se, just someone that works on disasters on a worldwide basis for 4 decades.
EDIT: I love my sports cars but have high clearance vehicles also!
