Album of the year for myself, bought the twin red vinyl edition version with a signed booklet and poster & two t-shirts/cap from Bleep (for a mates kid), I’ve been listening to the mixed version and the album………it’s been played at least 3 or 4 times/day since release and I’m still just as excited with it.
Good indepth breakdown of the tracks below
And fantano likes it as well
Cool, BOC fan! *bro fist
What’s fascinating is how for so many of us BoC feels nostalgic and transporting to the past. I grew up in Canada, so I recognize the synthesizers and vibe from various NFB and Government films.
In fact the BOC guys have cited some of those short films with Alain Clavier’s strange synth accompaniment, to be a major influence.
You can really hear it… and get the overall vibe of the mood and time they go for ….in these old clips here:
So it’s not surprising, their music gives a nostalgic memory to old fogies like me.
But I have wondered whether it also brings a sort of nostalgia to younger people who do not experience the period BOC is often referencing.
I tried asking my son (27) if it produces that effect with him and he said yes. But that’s because I’ve been playing the tracks in our car trips ever since he was little. So for him BOC invoke his childhood as well, and looking out the window, seeing Canadian nature passing by on trips to cottages, etc, with BOC playing.
He’s a fan. And whereas I instantly got hooked on the new album, he’s just warming up to it.
