curious what this statement is intended to mean?

they do look nice!

I think my loose translation may be off on this one (not a native speaker) and I misused "closing a gap". DeepL translates the passage from the linked Hifi Journal article I was referring to as follows:

"In the past, Andrew Jones had a lot of influence on the tuning of the speakers. The Debut 3.0 is now intended to build an even stronger bridge to well-known ELAC products and their sound. Not only in terms of sound, but also visually."

These look great! No new sub in the series, though? It appears that the Debut 2.0 subs have been heading towards being discontinued, so I'm a bit surprised here (1/2 off on Amazon now here in the US amid complaints about the tunings only being controllable via a bluetooth 4 connecton).

These seem like great value and they look fantastic, to me at least. I love the look of the paperclip waveform.
Can't wait for someone to give them a spin(orama).

Not that I put a lot of stock in a random YT reviewer's subjective take, but the guy seemed impressed with the sound. Definitely interested in seeing measurements of these, their predecessor is consistently recommended around here.
I think these seem to be the successor to the Debut 2.0 DB62 and maybe you are thinking of the Debut Reference DBR62, which has great spinorama results?

Sounds like they finished the baffle in that weird soft rubber coating that eventually turns sticky. Ew.

"NEWLY DEVELOPED ARAMID FIBER WOOFER

The Debut 3.0 Sseries boasts aramid fiber woofers, known for their light yet robust build, enduring quality, and reliable output. These woofers excel in delivering low-frequency sounds, adding depth to everything from spoken words to thunderous cinematic sequences."

reminds me of emotiva...............
Although the emotiva has a copper shorting ring for distortion reduction.

Looks like andrew robinson just reviewed it 12 hours ago................ with some measurements
