Edifier T5 Subwoofer problems - Advice?

My set up is PC > Topping E30 DAC > Fosi Audio ZA3 amp > Dali Spektor 1 speakers (passive)

Today, I got an Edifier T5 Subwoofer and connected it to the Sub Out on the ZA3 amp to RCA on sub.

Problem is, the subwoofer doesn't appear to be accepting the signal, and just continues to make an ongoing deep sound whether or not music is playing.

Anyone got any advice?

Try feeding the T5 directly off one of the E30's RCA Line outs (doesn't matter which).

Does it play? ->Something's wrong with the ZA3.

Still no sound? ->Something's wrong with the T5.

Thanks for the advice. Just to check. The E30 has only one pair or RCA out (pic). If I attach to that, I won't hear anything through main speakers, and am then bypassing the amp. Does that make sense?

Yes. That's what I'm suggesting you do to diagnose this issue.

It is not meant to be a permanent solution, just a way to find out which component is faulty.

Thanks. Just tested that, and yes the sub appears to work via the E30 (dual RCA todual RCA cable), although it's scary and barely needs any volume at all.

So can I deduct that it is either the sub output on the ZA3 at fault, OR the single to dual RCA cable?

I think so.

Next, I would try a single RCA to single RCA cable to connect either one of the T5's RCA inputs to the ZA3's Sub output.

Using a basic multimeter to make sure that a 60Hz sine wave played on the E30 makes it through to the ZA3's Sub output would also be a useful test.

Thanks for all your help. Issue was with the cable that comes as standard with the sub - it is a twin RCA to phono, rather than to single RCA used for sub out. Got a cable on Amazon and works perfectly.
