Edifier MR5 Review

Kp⁰

If recall, the jbls arent that much better than these speakers. For instance, the Mr5 have a better port response. They both have good fr response and directivity. The mr5's ease of connectivity, Bluetooth support and the ability to eq through the app gives it a slight edge in some respects.

Yep, I could buy six pairs of these for the price of two kh 120s. Totally different price segments.
jbl are stand alone .. edifier if problem with amp : the 2 go to trash can ..

adam tv5 its 290 the 2 , 5 year waranty

Was considering to buy KRK Rokit 5 G5, but then those Edifier MR5 came out, do you think they will be better as studio DJ monitors than KRK? Pricewise they are similar in EU.
Thanks!
No way to answer this, honestly. You'd have try them in your respective environment. The edifier are definitely more compact and easier to connect out the box.

No way to predict reliability at this point. The edifier have a two year warranty around here. The Adams are also nearly $200 more around here, too. Speaking for America. I can usually get the edifiers cheaper using discount codes.

the reliability : its simple amp is ALWAYS the weak point of powered speak all big compagny dont warranty long KEF , kipch 2 years , the price of the speaker ..its sure

in america = kali audio its new trump law :p
Too bad kali audio is made in China like most of the other audio products. Also most, if not all kali audio products are active speakers so they suffer the same "issue" that you pointed out. Also their lp-unf is like the edifiers too, amp wise, so just like you said, if the amp is damaged, the passive one goes out too. Kali audio has its own slew of issues too (that were fixed later, like the hiss on the indpendent series and the issues with their subs) with its products so weird pointing it out edifier(reliabililty issue?) and promoting kali lol.

It is so hard to get my phone to actually focus into the port but I got this neat picture of the 5 inch. I had to shine a flashlight from the opposite side haha.

Thanks for the in depth testing @Nuyes.

A shame these doesn't come with a remote, in addition to a smartphone app only.

Looks like a perfect match for my LP70X turntable for less than 300€. Seriously considering these now.

be careful the bass speaker is down the speake = if your turntable will be near the speaker

Awful looks or is it just me? LOL
Looks pretty nice to my eye. Rather deep so wouldn't work for me, but otherwise don't see anything objectionable.

I wonder if we could get fr measurements for the acoustic tuning setting in the app.

The low cutoff defaults to 30hz.

Well the Edifier connex app won't connect to the speaker anymore. Tried power cycling and forgetting and reconnecting BT but am stuck on this screen.

Thanks for doing the review! Was definitely curious about this.

At $350 retail in the US IMO it's not a must-get (JBL 305 still probably a better option?) but I think it deserves consideration at the price. And, if tariffs ever settle back down to a sane level we'd expect this speaker to suddenly become a lot more competitive...

I see that there is also MR3/MR3BT. It is almost the same price as 1280, but according to Erin's measurements, it is infinitely better.

In terms of measure I think it's okay as long as we crossover the bass <60-70Hz to a proper sub, which would reduce port noise and distortion by a lot. The directivity at higher freq is what I don't like, but expected.
