Edifier MR5 Review

That's probably because it isn't. I could imagine Edifier engineers making this speaker, reusing parts from the MR3 like the tweeter, woofer and waveguide, as a low-cost response to studio monitors with 5-6.5 inch bass drivers.
"Our MR3 is alright with improved bass response compared to MR4, but 65Hz @ -6dB is still insufficient. And people don't want to buy/have a large unwieldy subwoofer. How bout we enlarge the enclosure and jam a 5-inch woofer inside" sorta thing
I agree with this. A proper 3 way in this size has to use a small sealed mid driver (some kind of 2-2.5" class), there just isn't the space for a separate woofer to have enough cabinet volume.

Isn't the FR average slope positive instead of negative indicating an overall imbalance in favor to high frequencies on far field response?

Does it sound bright?
Hmm still no eq on mine but monitor mode doesn't sound bright but music mode definitely on the brighter side to my ears.

Another thing I noticed is the horizontal uniformity of sound is very good on these. I have mine mounted on rotatable wall mounts at slightly above eye level. Speakers are 6 feet apart and I listen about 7 feet away.
With the MR4 the horizontal sound was pretty good if the speakers weren't directly facing you but I could still tell if they weren't. With the MR5s I can't tell if they are directly facing me or not out to about 15 degrees from either side.

The MR4 also sounded better if you kept your ears below where the tweeters pointed(Thanks Amir for that tip).
With the MR5s and ear above tweater level the sound maybe changes slightly or my mind is expecting a change so I'm imagining it. Either way if it's there it's very minor and I would not worry about where your ears are with the MR5.

I mentioned in my previous comment that BT LDAC and the C200 sounded the same.
I did some more back and forth on more songs and they C200 actually sounds a little more dynamic and clearer than the BT to my S24 Ultra with LDAC turned on as well. I'm really splitting hairs here thought. Both connections sound very good.

Not bad, less expensive than offers from Neumann. However, in consideration of the very long life of speakers, I would save for a little longer and go with Neumann KH and a sub.

Not bad, wouldn't mind possibly trying out a passive version

For 250€ this active speaker is a good starting for dekstop users and they will enjoy the music on it. The Neumann KH and a sub would be around 2000€ to start.

The cheapest offer in eu i found is 200 €, but the normal price seems to be 250 €.
Anyway a nice speaker for me.

Interesting review, and with an artwork again - this time a meditating alien

LOL. Flip it the other way and you get what, Santa?

I got mine from Taobao, com direct from China while they were having a sale.
Paid about US$120/-, shipping and taxes all in.
I live in Russia and delivery from Taobao costs about the same as order from AliExpress and another marketplace.

They are not the same prices in my part of the world. Aliexpress often has the same items at a 20-30% premium over Taobao. If there is free shipping, about 10-20% depending on item size and weight. Unless its a special sale that is not happening over at Taobao, they yes, Aliexpress can be cheaper at times.

In my country you can find them between 250-280€, depending on the shop. For that price you can get a pair of JBL 305P which outperforms them, although they are way bigger.

If recall, the jbls arent that much better than these speakers. For instance, the Mr5 have a better port response. They both have good fr response and directivity. The mr5's ease of connectivity, Bluetooth support and the ability to eq through the app gives it a slight edge in some respects.

Yep, I could buy six pairs of these for the price of two kh 120s. Totally different price segments.

Was considering to buy KRK Rokit 5 G5, but then those Edifier MR5 came out, do you think they will be better as studio DJ monitors than KRK? Pricewise they are similar in EU.
Thanks!
