The copper color trims look cheap and garish, like 90s sound systems. Honestly, I wouldn't buy them like that, they'd be an eye-sore to look at. They don't even have grilles to hide the ugliness

If they wanted to improve them, they should have made them angled to fire upwards or include a stand for the same issue. They are definitely real desktop speakers, not stand speakers, but you can't use them as they are, you have to use stands or put them on a stack of books or something, otherwise they fire towards your chest. And the vertical dispersion isn't great around the crossover, especially above the tweeter, where it's most needed.

I think I'll buy a second pair of MR4 I version for my TV while they're still available, before they're replace by the new hideous model.

And what's the deal with that MR5? They are bigger, but the woofer seems to be the same size. Do they have a hidden woofer for bass hidden at the back or something? Because they don't make any sense otherwise.
PS: Just looked it up, they have a downfiring 5 inch woofer. It makes sense now.

I think the MR4 II looks better in white anyway.
At first, I didn't see the point of an MR4 refresh until the camera glanced over the spec sheet. A 4.5-inch bass driver and LDAC BT support are certainly outstanding features compared to the MR3.
What I'm more curious about is the XR6. It's a further step up from the MR series (a potential Genelec competitor) and might come with a calibrated microphone for acoustic tuning. Cool. Pretty sparse controls in the back though. Maybe we'll get a companion app for Windows/Mac/smartphone?
