Edifier M60 distortion on AUX in

Hello!
I've been following ASR for many years but never felt the need to make an account as I always found my answers just reading the various threads.
I recently decided to buy some desktop speakers for my PC for when I don't feel like using my IEMs or headphones, I came across the Edifier M60 and decided to get it as it was also mentioned relatively positively on here in a few threads.
I like the small footprint and looks, they are perfect for my needs, however, they seem to have a major issue in that, when using the AUX input (connected to the RCA outputs of my RME ADI-2 DAC FS) they appear to distort audibly, at least I think it is distortion. It sounds like a kind of reverb or echo around especially voices. It is more audible, the lower the volume(unlike actual distortion).
This effect is also present when using bluetooth or the USB-C in, but much less so( I can only hear it if I am very close to the speaker).
I've tried:
- connecting to the AUX out of my motherboard
- doing a factory reset from the Edifier Connex app
- tried plugging the speakers in away from my PC and connecting them through the 3.5 jack on my phone
- having only the AUX plugged in and not the USB-C (and vice versa)
- various combination of volume on my PC, the speakers, the RME
However the issue persists.
I could not find any reports about this on the various reviews or impressions on the internet, do you guys have any idea what I could try ?
Thanks a lot!

Yep, make sure that no sound effect is active in the PCs operating system. I've seen it in the past.
