Eartips - have a significant impact on an IEM's sound - Would like to fully understand the WHY - please what are the factors involved?

Great to hear it works for you. Enjoy the music! (and avoid the numerous rabbit holes ;) )

Deeper bass, like a subwoofer was switched on "banging" is the word on my mind, feels physical, not just deep, each bass hit is like a proper hit on my ear drum/head, visceral. Vocals definitely more natural, life like.. Everything blends together nicely. Detailed enough without needing to sound treble hyped.
I know you don’t like your opinion to be discussed…

Deeper bass, no bass… when swapping IEM tips: these mostly characterize a good or bad seal: good seal = good bass (where the bass are intended to be for the considered IEM) = good/better overall balance, everything sounds more “natural”.

Yes, there are some differences between ear tips, but they are completely dwarfed by the seal consideration. And here is the thing: what works for one individual—the IEM/seal combination that provides perfect seal—may not work at all for another individual.

What I can contribute having wide ear canals is how good the tips seal extremely determines how good bass performance is. From no bass at all to pretty darn perfect with the same IEM. I ended up chasing large 3rd party ear tips in Jeff’s Internet 24/7.
With the same 7Hz Zero2 as you.View attachment 418774

Here another interesting model that reaches fairly wide and short, still reasonably cheap:

Angelears AE100

They also give me the impression to be somewhat sticky, defintely worth trying sooner or later.

Similar to the rose technics I just got . Sticky like the azla xelastec but a more standard dome shape .

Although… I still don’t quite understand their point about the center of gravity. But it’s probably me :)

Trust me , they looked like the right size shape and texture and were in the hifigo sale . Might not have if I'd seen that shite !

They fit well and seal well and adds another variation to my worrying full tip stash .

As an aside , what does anyone do with all the wrong sized tips you collect with iem and multi sized sets? Never in a million years would I use a small set yet have hundreds of the buggers rolling around .

Instead of offering more and more tips choice in every IEM box, maybe the manufacturers should offer a “standard” version of the IEM, with a cheap cable, and a set of 3 cheap S/M/L tips, and a “geek” version, with no cable, and no tips?

Not a bad idea. Give me a sturdy case and the buds and I'm done. Cant see the makers going for it though unless they want to play the eco card.

Reminds me of what happened to make the USB-C connector, the standard on mobile phones in Europe, and the mighty Apple Inc, had no choice but to comply. Now you buy a smartphone and it does not come with a charger. It did take a while to happen.

Was thinking about this "waste", when I realised I now had 8 IEMs, and 16 pairs of 8 small and 8 medium pairs of tips not used.

IEM's may still be a small market, so no incentive to deal with the "waste" yet. But there are other areas, much bigger, which could do with urgent attention. The many battery powered devices with NON-replaceable, rechargeable batteries, such as wireless earbuds- huge market, in need of better regulation and standardisation, so these batteries can be replaced and used interchangeably. So when these batteries eventually die, you have to throw away a perfectly working device, cos the battery is irreplaceable.

Especially if they have to include cables with the damn 90° angled 2 pin connectors

That! and also I don't understand the "unboxing experience" just put the dammed things in a small plain box.

lol, it became the iem rant thread.
Going on like this at some point we'll complain having drivers into our iems :p

Lol! To stay on topic for a bit at least.

I ordered this ones just out of curiosity knowing they were going to be crappy, they are a bit rigid but after taking out the foam they are not bad at all they fit my ears well, the tip has more or less the shape and bore size of the KBear07, I've been using it for outdoors and because it's a bit more rigid it feels more stable while walking with heavier IEMs.

You eviscerated them, how brutal!

If we want to talk about crappy tips, i can point out these two i got some months ago, in my search of the hidden jewel among large tips...

https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005006037313058.html the white/blue ones

they are strange, they feels not bad at touch and seem standard shaped but no matter the iem i tested them on, no way of getting that right feeling in the ear, no rotation, no pressing, nothing can make them give even a small hint to seal the ears...

https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005590722090.html

I tried them because they resembled other no brand tips i got years ago and that turned out to be the only one i can use with Zero:Red in place of the stock ones without fr alterations. Well, these are absolutely no match, the dome is thin and filmsy at the point of making no resistance in the ears, deforming and so, again, no trace of minimal seal.

Stay away from both.

Funny thing I order the exact same ones form other vendor (white with red stem). Really really bad ones as you said.

The problem is that all look similar to each other and to some of the better ones and is a coin toss ordering by looks.

I think I'm sticking with the KBear07 L (at least for now), no miracles but at least I know they work.

They most likely tried to copy the marketing material for the Divinus Velvet wide bore:

Don't think that their marketing is very believable either, but I guess they get their point across.

Thinking about it, and how ridiculous it can be…:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Some of these ear tips aren’t cheap…So, why don’t they include 3x sets of IEMs with each pair of tips you purchase?

(Side note: KZ EDA):

Then the question becomes: “As an aside, what does anyone do with all the wrong sized tips responding IEMs (FR) you collect with iem tips and multi sized FR iem sets?”

Weird, no? :p
