Having lived through a big one when we lived in Northern California, few things are as scary as a big earthquake:

Other disasters given you warnings in advance. Not with these.

So sad for people who got injured or worse, lost their lives in Venezuela.

As that video shows, the majority in deaths from earthquakes are caused by collapsing structures. This is why Japan invests heavily in engineering standards for earthquake-proof buildings.

I bought a bunch of parts to make a shaker to test with. Never found the time to put them together!
