Dynaudio exiting US.

Like others have noted, this probably does not mean that US consumers will not be able to buy Dynaudio speakers, it means they are shutting down their corporate office in the USA. Guess they felt the revenue trend vs expenses in the US wasn't making sense. I am not sure how many audio companies have a wholly owned subsidiary...
in North America not only USA

Also, it seems like they never really did make much of an effort in the home theater arena, which constitutes a huge part of the audio market in the US.

Ouch, a steady downward slide for five years. Profits have collapsed, operating results deeply negative, 2025 closed with a loss of more than DKK 76 million. Equity has essentially disappeared, down from DKK 316 million to DKK 15 million, so almost entirely debt‑funded. ROE at –142% says it all; structural problems and (urgent) need for capital.

Very sad

These accounts are pretty much worthless. Note that only Gross Profit is shown, not Revenues. Transfer pricing to the Chinese owners for COGS is likely set at levels to optimize tax planning rather than showing the actual economic result in the Danish entity. Ref. note 19 of the accounts:

Maybe they are too big (invested in their technology, high running expenses) to make an excellent sounding speaker at lower prices.

I could be wrong, but I would think you make a good yet inexpensive speaker, without much profit for them.
Then people resell that to others and work their way up to the flagship speakers that have all the bells and whistles......

I always like the idea of adding bass modules (not subwoofers) as an upgrade path......

I really liked my dynaudio x32's.
Just didn't like the drooping bass from 100hz down to 40hz.
If went flat down there, I'd probably still have them.

That's kind of what they *were* known for, but when a speaker line gets more expensive at over 3x the inflation rate, you know they want higher (luxury) margins... and at those price points there are brands with more cachee and innovation than Dynaudio, but hey, it's the business choice they made.

It prolly doesn't make much of an audible difference, but if I am paying over 10k I'd probably want Beryllium tweeters and other stuff I'd perceive as "more innovative" than the Esotar pitch they have been giving since the Cretacean Period...

And that press release doesn't present them in a good light at all internally. There clearly is a breaking point coming... their Board of Directors' (all from the parent company) comment where they express "great disappointment in results" is a bizarre way to communicate results to potential new investors. What a mess. I don't recall a Board of Directors writing that in yearly financials... ever. Maybe on a call, but never written down in the yearly report...

@pablolie , agree, but Dynaudio is such a small fart in the Goertek group (USD 14bn revenues) that they probably don’t care either way. The acquisition was probably just a pet project of their billionaire owner.

From the press release in November 2019. I mean, parachuting a chinese management team into Denmark, what the hell were they thinking? The only funny thing about this is that Peng Peng when pronounced in Danish, literally translates as Money Money!

New management team

The Board of Dynaudio have appointed a new leadership duo as Max Jiang (Chao Jiang) and Peng Peng are named co-CEOs. Both Max Jiang and Peng Peng are moving to Denmark and will work from Dynaudio’s global headquarters in Skanderborg.

The newly appointed co-CEOs will have separate areas of responsibility: Max Jiang will be overall responsible for Operations, Product Management, and Research & Development while Peng Peng will be overall responsible for Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources.

Both executives have long working experiences with Dynaudio. Max Jiang leaves an appointment as Chief Executive Officer for a joint venture established by Dynaudio and Goertek in China with responsibility for Dynaudio’s operations in the Asia Pacific. Peng Peng has, until his appointment, been Head of Investment for Goertek, a position in which he collaborated closely with Dynaudio’s top management and the Board.

Finally, Dynaudio and Goertek would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere gratitude to Lars Prisak for his exemplary contribution and wish a warm welcome to the new management team.

What they did with their entry series rubbed me the wrong way:

In 2016 their Emit M10 entry series bookshelf cost 600€/pr, was made in Denmark and had cast basket woofers.

Since 2021 their Emit 10 costs 730€/pr, is made in China and has stamped steel basket woofers.

They used to be quite big in Germany due to a legendary marketing campaign. Somewhat unsurprising since it has been cofounded by germans. There is a song every german knows called "Tränen lügen nicht" ("tears don't lie"). Dynaudio had the campaign slogan "Dänen lügen nicht" ("danes don't lie").

Well, whatever happens to Dynaudio, their "branch of driver design" is carried on by the technical founders son at Audio Technology Denmark and also at Morel in Israel.

Also one of its founders recently "stepped down from his own company because it had become too big for him – and, as a result, too heavily driven by the usual constraints of the mass market"

FWIW, Amir loved what he heard of them in Axpona.
Those particular models are £36500 though or nearly $50K USD.

I wonder what quality of speaker system the lads who take it real seriously here could put together given that budget?

Yes i totally see why you say that, although it doesn't say a lot about the sound quality,
it's definitely a step (or two) in the wrong direction.

Dynaudio went downwards fast when the original founders Wilfried Ehrenholz, Ejvind Skaaning, and Gerhard Richter were not involved anymore since then and moved to other ventures. Skaaning, who is also behind Scanspeak, moved to stricktly OEM building (Audio Technology) in 1990, and was the technical brain behind the brand. Scanspeak kept innovating trough other designers and many owners since he left, but Dynaudio did not much new since then and so faded out, and is still fading out and no new owners seems to be able to turn the tide.

The magic of transfer pricing (which shapes COGS) BUT these are the only ones i found. These are the results of the Danish entity not the Chinese holding group which shows it being milked dry on paper. Danish GAAP allows for this. Perhaps the idea is the same for a lot of M&As, keep the name and move the actual operation to a less expensive country.

Denmark’s labor model (high wages, collective bargaining floors, mandatory benefits, and strict regulatory compliance) makes local manufacturing structurally expensive. Math is unforgiving when your minimum labor cost is perhaps 10-15x higher than China.

Hope they maintain the quality and beautiful craftmanship.

EDIT: having seen the changes to the woofers I guess they are only about "PENG PENG" @mags65 ;)

Five year downward slide...hmmm sounds like the results of COVID.

I disagree with some of the dismissive comments on this thread. Modern Dynaudio speakers usually show rather respectable measured performance. For example, look at the measurements of Dynaudio Contour 20i and 30i speakers in Stereophile. In my opinion, they are better than most of the competition in respective price range. What's more, they are made in a country that has selected decent level-headed people as their leaders.
