While getting my room optimized with this sub I ran into the desire to bypass the sub for measurements.
The manual states:

Trigger (5 - 12 VDC = on)

4 options:
1: Disable: Trigger input is ignored.
2: ON/OFF: Trigger input is required to turn the 18S on.
3: Mute sub with High pass: Trigger input mutes the 18S with main speakers high passed.
4: Mute sub without High pass: Trigger input mute the 18s with out high pass filtering the main speakers.

So I tried to make my own trigger and share it because it's really simple.
All you need is a 5-12V adapter. I used a 5VC one that actually outputs 5.2V. I cut off the plug.
I had an old Sennheiser headphone cable lying around with 3.5mm stereo plug. These have that fork on one end which is convenient to solder the adapter cables onto. I just used the left channel fork.
Simply connect the + wire to the plug tip and the - to the plug base.
Insert a switch if you want. I was too lazy for this: I simply plug in the adapter.

It works!
Just to be complete, this is what the trigger 'on' setting does:
1: No effect
2: Trigger on: turns the 18S on.
3: Trigger on: Mute sub with High pass
4: Trigger on: Mute sub without High pass

For some reason I couldn't get the 18s to turn on automatically when music starts; I probably have something set wrong in the options. I found a small 12v 0.5A power supply and originally put an in-line switch in the cable to the subwoofer.

Later, I made a small switch box to control the subwoofer, a USB port and a desk lamp, which sits on the edge of my monitor stand and is held in place with blu-tack.

It looks quite large in this picture, but the box is only about 60mm, 2.5" wide - that's a 3.5mm jack for scale. :)
