Dx7 pro into purifi 1et400a poweramp

I need your help guys

I have completely changed my system and now run a node2i output via coax (fixed volume) into the dx7 pro and then xlr into the Nord three (purifi 1et400a modules)

I don't seem to be getting much volume, I was using the rca to xlr cables which apparently output 2v from the dx7pro so changed to the xlr to xlr for 4v output from the dx7pro but the volume hasn't really changed much from the rca. It will get loud but not till -30db on the dx7pro, I was expecting a bit more volume or to have head room for more volume even if I don't need it.

I think there are some jumpers to adjust the gain inside the amp on the buffer boards? But not 100%

Should I be able to get full volume out of the Nord with 4vs from the dx7pro?

Just as a side note the volume on my naim supernait barely went passed 9pm on the dial and it was loud enough for my listening needs

Am I looking at this the wrong way, full volume on the combo above is plenty loud enough and I will never listen at that volume but it's nice to know its there if needed and I was expecting more from some of the headline figures quoted on these class modules

TIA

Do you use 8 or 4 jumper configuration? Read manual. There are 2 modes. Bypass and with buffer. Mode with buffer giving more decibels.

What specific device do you use? I can't see buffer bypass or turning on directly. Maybe I need to be more attentive. Blue colored PCB.
I see Nord NC500 buffer.

It's a Nord acoustics three mkii, purifi 1et400a with what looks like nord nc500 bufferboards

I would expect -30dB to be the point at which it might get loud. How loud is it at -3dB?

Yes it's very loud, but I would expect it to be very loud @ -60dB if it's as powerful as advertised, just thought I maybe doing something wrong

Like running a car that car do 200mph but cant use it for that 99% of the time but nice to know its available

I think the point I was trying to make is the specific output of the amplifier doesn't seem as powerful as my 80 watt naim supernait.
I your naim amp must have had much higher gain. If you can drive your nord amp with -3dB, I'd have to guess your old naim amp would be severely clipping at -3dB

I may be getting confused, if my dac/preamp shows 0db its outputting 4v max via xlr, But if my power amp only has a small gain the volume will be reduced overall regardless of the preamp volume showing 0db

Any reason why I would not want the power amp to be able to run at full volume even if I don't need it?

Again I may be looking at this all wrong,.

The Nord three has a bit over 27dB gain. It only needs 1.5V in to reach its full output power.

@Danny247 I highly recommend a multimeter to check the output voltages of both the DAC and Amp, as well as the Amp's gain.
A cheap $15 one will do just fine.
