ordered the DX3 pro+ when it was on sale, will be using it with HD6XX’s and streaming from my iPhone mostly Amazon HD. What quality can I expect streaming this was and are there options to improve it?

The DX3 pro+ supports 'hi-res' codecs LDAC (<=900kbps) and AptX HD (<=576kbps) with 96kHz/24-bit & 28kHz/24-bit respectively exact specs will depend on the device. It also supports a number of other codecs such as AAC. iPhone however supports only AAC (250kbps). All codecs use some form of lossy compression. AAC is supposed to be equivalent in quality to a mid-bitrate encoded MP3.

Whether you will be able to detect a significant audible difference is another question...

As for options to improve bluetooth... you could look at accessories such as a bluetooth LDAC receiver but possibly only marginally less clunky than a wired connection

By using the lighting-3.5mm adapter, you can output 24 bit 48kHz content. Going beyond that will require a lightning to USB adapter.
