We did a fun install today at Hawthorne Stereo in Seattle! We're doing a one month showcase leading up to Pacific Audiofest in June.

This is a great chance if you're local to the Puget Sound to check them out!

Is the wall carpeting for acoustic absorption or design aesthetics? Just curious
I believe Hawthorne uses the tapestry to help with rear reflections. There was no additional treatment behind, just the bare wall.

With the 8c, it doesn't really matter, as there's no sound wrapping around to the side or rear of the speakers from 100hz up. The rear facing subs did just fine in that room but would technically perform even better without the tapestry in ace.

That's exactly what I was thinking, 8C would take advantage of the bare wall!

Given the size of the wavelengths we're talking about, I don't think that we lost much output. If there were massive bass traps behind there, it would be a different story.
