Dutch & Dutch 8c Review

Definitely consider a Parks Audio Puffin or Waxwing. Do the A/D before the phono stage!

You’d just need a cheap SPDIF to AES adapter and you’d be all set. With short (<10’) cable runs l sometimes just use a plain ol xlr to rca adapter.
Why do the A/D conversion before the phono? I thought the 8C can take analog via xlr?

The 8c is a digital speaker. Everything that goes into that analog input gets digitized. Cleaner signal path to keep things digital.

Also, no reason to spend any budget on a fancy analog output section for the phono pre or preamp.

If you have used or old records, there are advantages to doing de-clicking before RIAA eq.

Every aspect of the Park Audio products is a win.

Room 119

Do they have any plans to come up with a floor stander ? Or is that anathema? Instead could I use a passive speaker with eversolo room DSP. Speakers are also furniture for me so looking for wood finish floorstanders with room correction.

Plans for a smaller 8C but not a floorstander as far as I am aware.
ATC make traditional active speakers including floorstanders.

Which would be better in the mid-high frequency range—this or the Genelec 1237 (38) at 4m?
What's the direct sound range of the Dutch&Dutch 8c?

Could you elaborate on "direct sound range"? Ive not had 1237s, but in my room at 4m the D&D were slightly better than Kii Three, 8361s and 8260s. (I've tried a lot, maybe too many)

Teasers on social media for the 6C are out:

"Small by design. Expandable by choice"

Wonder if there's an optional sub ?
What else could "expandable by choice" mean? Mid-bass modules?
But that doesn't seem like a D&D thing, it's not "sleek" enough. Besides, I can't imagine a world where a rumored '6C' can't punch out enough mid-bass on its own.

They promised the proper sub integration firmware will be soon for the 8c, this might be the motivation to finally do it. I'm assuming a lot of the software and electronics will be shared with the 8c.

Agree; I bet the expandability is the sub. Have to wonder whether there is going to be much advantage to the 8c over the 6 if you are using subs. Will be interesting to see the final details....

I think Martin mentioned elsewhere they’re not making their own sub in the near future, but it could be a fuller development of the sub out functionality to be used with other subs
