Dutch & Dutch 8c Review

I would imagine the 8C's would be very difficult to integrate with a sub since they go down so low. Unless you have a very large room and roll off the bass in the 8Cs, what your libel to end up with could be very muddy bass.

The best way to integrate subs with (any) speakers is to highpass the speakers. This should work equally well with the 8C as with any other speaker. If one does not have that capability, I agree it would probably not be worthwhile.

I haven’t felt the need to add subs to the 8Cs myself in the rooms here, I am pretty sure full sub integration it is on D&Ds ‘to do’ list.

Optimally would be connecting them direct to the 8c's with filters.
Yup, which is way I asked the question. Although I don’t think I am going to need subs, I want to have the option available with direct integrated, meaning filters.

Has anyone used subwoofers with the 8c's?

It seems no one has or admits to this. Nothing on the web regarding this.
Oh l do.

The genres l listen to significantly benefit from the added infrabass.

I dont use the subwoofer outs on the back. I use a crossover upstream.

Gosh havn't seen so much gear in a small space!! What's with the speakers in the corners as well?

Three 18" subs!!! I can't imagine the sound. Thanks for replying.
I really dont want to distract from the topic at hand.
8c are amazing.
For 95% of my music collection, they dont need subs, they are it.

I live in that corner case though.

The very tall speakers are a full range line array concept me and a few friends have been developing.
I bought 8c so I would have "known good" to compare to.
In 3-4 rooms now. I measure the 8c in REW, then tune the line array to match.

The quantity of subs creates a very flat response from 5-60hz.
I dont want to make either the 8c or line array responsible for that, so I just go overkill and know that range is nailed.

From looks alone I’d say you’ve succeeded ;)

Wow, the size of those subs make the 8c look small, something they very much aren't. LOL
Good Listening. ;)

How are you guys buying your 8Cs?
I have reached out to Dutch & Dutch via e-mail and on Instagram to see if there is a dealer nearby, and they have not responded. Not even an auto response - just nothing.
Are people just buying sight unseen online without setup and/or used off of Reverb?
Seems a bit odd to pay 15K with no way to audition, ask questions, or receive in person setup.

Thanks! I had missed the .us via .com difference. I reached out to .us this morning and got a response already.

Apologies for the delay. We aim to monitor all channels, but occasionally messages do slip through. I couldn’t locate any recent inquiry from you in our system. If you've already contacted our US representative, they should respond soon.

Many of our 8c customers have indeed purchased without auditioning beforehand. Of course, buying sight unseen can feel risky. Fortunately, there are a lot of user reviews out there, that should give you a good idea of what the 8c is and how it sounds. We have a fair return policy with a flat fee, to minimize any remaining risk. On top of that, we also offer a remote setup service, in which one of our trained engineers walks you through setting up RoomMatching remotely via TeamViewer. We guide mic placement, measurements, and calibration to optimize the sound in your specific room.

If you prefer in‑person support or auditioning, we can check whether any dealers nearby might be able to facilitate a demo. In any case, with our US representative Bill you're in good hands.

EDIT: When I wrote the above response I had actually missed that Bill had already replied; exactly the thing that is said in the text I quoted. I'm happy to hear that!

Not a criticize but simply as an observation, it never fails to confuse me that when someone is considering a HiFi component that costs in the range
of $20,000 that a few hundred dollars for a plane ticket and car rental to preview is overlooked.

But then again, I never found listening in a different space than your own that usefull. Sending something that big back is a nuisance, but still cheaper than a plane ticket ;)

That dude @hollis , just became part of my hate list... 5 to 60 Hz.. flat...

Back to the discussion at hand.

The D&D 8c has already been reviewed by some...
Are you thinking about sending a pair to @amirm ... If this has been discussed in this thread, please ignore ...
This is a speaker I still am lusting about .. BTW.

Peace
