Dutch & Dutch 6c

Had the chance to listen to these earlier today at the audio event in Veldhoven the Netherlands.
I am happy to hear all the positives I have read. These were by far the best sounding speakers amongst a wide (price) range of speakers and manufacturers. Very impressed.
I'm glad they also played "normal" music, because so many of these events spaces tend to play some very niche music. Very hard to get a good impressions that way.
Also props to the team for the in-depth info talks and interactions with the listeners.

Still a bit expensive for my budget but if you compare it to a full system it's not that bad!

were you able to compare them with the 8Cs?

Today I went to the Dutch Audio Event and heard the 6C.

I also met @Martijn Mensink, such a nice guy and rightfully proud of Dutch & Dutch.

I spoke with Martijn about my Dutch & Dutch 8M speakers. a model that was released simultaneously with the 8C, but isn't cardioid. It's great to hear more about the 8M and that there will be an update coming later this year that will allow me to configure the subwoofer output port, which isn't possible now.

Did you have a chance to compare the sound to the 8cs?

Looks magnificent! I have mentioned before that the combination of D&D 8Cs and a Weiss MAN301 put all my 30+ years of efforts to shame, only “problem” I had was the size. The 8Cs are, hm, large. It really doesn’t matter when you hear it yet when they are not playing the WAF goes down.

The 6C deserves to be a Galactical success if they are close to the bigger brother.

I agree. I think Kii messed up by making the Kii Seven with no path to expand to the BXT, unless they have another release other sleeves soon.

The 6C takes the cake and lets you eat it too - since there is the ability to add bass extension.

The only thing that is curious to me about these new state of the art speakers is why the crossover points aren’t lower, allowing for better vertical dispersion

Ohhh and since I brought it up, I’m only speculating on the crossover. Where is the tweeter crossover?

Center to center spacing looks fairly tight. We may still see good results vertically, which I also care about.

No, D&D said the room was too small to place them properly. The most important difference is SPL, the 8C will sound about the same but can play even louder.

Describing the sound: balanced, flat, spacious, precise, crisp, powerful, with enough deep articulated bass.

Only downside I can find is that some systems seem to play with even more air and detail in the highs. But these systems lack in other areas.

Was it mentioned how far the cardioid effect extends on the 6C? Is the phase linear latency higher than the 8C, and/or will there be a "8C latency match" similar to what the Kii Seven does?

Quick reply during a short coffee break:

We did two things a bit differently at this show than usual.

One is that we’re using tall stands so that the sound also reaches the people in the back. Good idea, we’ll do that again.

Second is that we have black cloth covering all walls, because it looks better than a bare conference room. It was supposed to be very thin and not affect the sound, but RT60 above 1kHz is now about 0.1 seconds. Not okay. The sound in the first rows is very good in my opinion, although it sounds a bit more studio-like than living room. But in the back it sounds too dead. Let’s call this a lesson learned!

Regardless, I’m glad the people who’ve listened in the front rows almost unanimously are very impressed. Thanks for the kind words, guys!

That’s what happens when you use room treatment with a speaker design that doesn’t need room treatment ;)
