Dutch & Dutch 6c

I don't remember where I read a comparison that D&D are usually smoother and less bright than Genelec?
Is that true that Genelecs are more analytical sounding in comparison?

I would like to share my humble experience on the occasion of the “hxoseikona show 2025” which took place this past weekend in Athens Greece. Specifically, I would like to comment on the dutch & dutch 6c’s which were presented at the show. I am not an expert but I consider myself as someone who appreciates good sound, value for money…relaxing and recomposing myself while listening to almost all genres of music . These past years I’ve been leaning towards active speakers and have previously owned Elac Navis Arb51 followed by Buchardts A500’s.

On both occasions I was a very satisfied owner - rediscovering music that I enjoy listening to and always stretching my wallet to get the best I could afford. I also visited Munich’s Hi-end show last May and was delighted to listen to Kii’s seven as part of my next upgrade in my “audiophile path”. Dutch and Dutch 8c was also my dream speaker, following its evolution through the last 6-7 years or so and having listened to it on occasions I fell in love with its faithful and effortless sound recreation. A smaller more affordable d&d is something I’ve longed for and when rumors spread the last few months I knew I had to listen. I was pleasantly surprised d&d attended the show in Athens where I had the chance to experience not only the sound of 6c’s but also to compare it with the kii seven’s which were also presented at the event. After spending an hour at the latter, I rushed to the d&d room (both rooms were untreated and roughly the same size) and, boom, I instantly forgot about the Kii’s . What I heard from the very first moment was effortless presentation - almost an identical sound resembling that of 6c’s bigger brother. Love at first listen! I stayed there for almost three hours, listening to music and feeling sound so right for that room…or any room as Yianni (from d&d) very kindly explained to me and to all the people who attended presentation during my stay. No listening fatigue (sound levels 85-95 dB most of the time with some picks…). Precision, soundstage, delicate, dynamic, effortless, easy listening, forceful bass, thundering, impactful, impressive are all words that come to mind when describing this experience. WoW . I decided to visit the show again on the second day to verify my initial impressions and, yes, I wasn’t wrong.

In comparison to the kii sevens, the 6c sounded superior, more effortless in their presentation, and with greater headroom (kii seven’s low bass registers sounded compressed at 75% and above) . I also noticed that 6c’s used power cables that come with the speakers whereas kii used some aftermarket hi-end ones . In conclusion, I liked the kii’s but I loved the 6c’s! In the end , I believe you get what you pay for. In the next few months, I intend to be a happy owner of these little gems and will happily report back to whomever is interested in sharing opinions and thoughts

One final comment: kudos to Yianni from Dutch&Dutch for his energetic, enthusiastic and informative presentation. View attachment 491266View attachment 491266View attachment 491267View attachment 491268View attachment 491269View attachment 491270View attachment 491271View attachment 491272

Great review and very useful comparison to the Kii Seven's.

I currently have the Buchardt A500SE's. I previously had the A500's that you have, the SE's are a significant step up with the use of twin purifi drivers. Interested in your thoughts between the A500 and the 6C. Is there no comparison?

At times i drive my A500Se's hard, they can play loud before breaking up. The 8C's have always impressed me with their ability to play super loud without compressing, how were the 6c's at 95db (or more)?

I don't think anyone could tell you, as "smooth" and "analytical" are subjective terms that don't have a real meaning. Any measurement will tell you if the D&Ds are "less bright" than the Genelecs (though of course you'd have to specify what Genelec you are talking about in particular).

Thank you .I had the A500s for two years , I liked them a lot but there are not in any scence comparable to the 6cs. In every aspect the 6cs are superior , they just feel right , it’s the kind of feeling you get instantly when you listen to them. At 90-95 db they just presented effortlessly any genre I listened to whithout generating any anxiety of falling short of power , bass control and overall performance. They have substantial authority combined with delicate and precise presentation. Moreover I’m thrilled by the fact ( like the 8cs) that the 6cs are an investment to music pleasure, in my case,

Never imagined that there would be such a difference in size

I agree, although SBIR dips lower in bass the farther you are from the front wall (the wall in front of you, not behind you). You truly have to measure. And if you can’t change your listening position and also speaker positions, you are fighting an uphill battle.

Room modes and SBIR can be get helped with speaker technology and optimization software, but where you place things will have a bigger impact on your sound
For sure- placement AND Acoustic treatments are what I prefer over software/dsp.

The 6c is about 50% smaller in volume and almost half the weight of the 8c. All the core Dutch & Dutch technologies are still there: the constant-directivity waveguide, midrange cardioid, and the boundary-coupled bass system.

They’re the technologies that make true RoomMatching possible. Just like the 8c, the 6c keeps that entire foundation intact, simply in a more compact form factor.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, and even more for spending so much of your weekend with us in the room.
I really appreciated your questions, it’s always a pleasure talking with someone who loves music as much as we do.

I’m glad the Dutch & Dutch 6c resonated with you. Hearing that the experience felt effortless and enjoyable in that space means a lot to us.
That is the essence of Dutch & Dutch - enjoy your favourite music, in any space.

Thanks again for the visit, the ears, and the kind words. Encounters like this are exactly what make these shows worth it for us !

Will there be a 10C that's at least 50% bigger than the 8C? ;)

I read somewhere a rumour that there will be a bass module for the 8C (not just the 6).
Has this been confirmed? It will change my buying decision.

Martijn said on Facebook that they are working on one for the 8C, but the 6C version will be first.

So I imagine it will be some time until it sees the light of day, since they have to get the 6C and then the bass module properly launched. Martijn also said that 6C plus bass module would outperform the 8C on its own, so that could be a way to go if you can afford it :)

Currently have Revel Studio IIs in my living room.
Seriously considering D&Ds.
My room is 22ft w x 17ft d x 9ft h.

Seems the 8Cs would fill my room better than the 6C but the 6C w\sub is intriguing.
Someone earlier listed the 6S sub at ~21,000 euro(!), is this speculation or realistic
