Dutch & Dutch 15C Discussion

It's much more likely to be north of 100k though.
Thank Heavens! I was worried that I might buy them, but that is very reassuring :)
I won't.
Edit. Ok. I might.
Can anyone speculate on the amps they might use?
If I'm spending the much, hopefully the NCoreX rather than NCore, and maybe some new DAC from Putzey's brain?
Fun to speculate...

I believe the 8c uses Pascal amps.

I believe the 8c uses Pascal amps.
I see.
They have changed a fair bit since the first ones that I knew- will be interested to see the specs on the ones chosen for the 15C.
Do they have integrated DAC like the Hypex Fusion family?
Edit- wow, the Pascal teams have some sophisticated-looking, HIGH power amps w DSP / Dante built-in. Exciting times.

May have something to do with the cardioid functionality, as you need a certain amount of air coming out the sides of the cabinet at a certain distance from the woofer, with the internal path length also being a factor. Just speculation on my part.
They could do even better than cardioid with a bigger cabinet, a steering mode for example, ala W371A (unless is patented but I don't thing so, they do it in diyaudio regularly)
Far more useful.

Can you explain how a steering mode works and how it is different from cardioid?
Unlike cardoid which is a fixed radiation pattern, null steering mode is directive, usually aiming at the usual suspects (corners, etc) creating nulls so to iron the FR.
How exactly works is way above my pay grade.

What are the positives /negatives of a 15 inch mid driver?
I'm sure you've been with long enough to answer the question yourself. Even if you remain uncertain to what degree each factor has an impact, you can at least make an effort and list the different acoustical phenomena at play, and how they would impact this specific design.

We're waiting, no one will be shaming you if you are wrong, please don't use AI.

Positives are high headroom, low compression, low distorsion at domestic SPL

Main negative is they usually sound best below ~500 Hz, so it's difficult to do a very good 2 Way. Genelec for examples uses 3-way designs with the 15", the recent 8380 has a 470 Hz xover. The big ATCs are at 380, Geithain at 550

The big JBLs are at 700 or 800 Hz and clearly they work well, but there are some tiny resonances visible around 500 Hz in the M2 and 4367

The 8Cs are already full‑range and fairly powerful speakers.

This new monitor would therefore only make sense for very large mastering studios or very large living spaces, where people want to play them at really really high sound levels.

What makes me a bit skeptical is that I think a well‑optimized multisub setup and easy to set up (wireless ?) alongside the 8Cs would probably deliver far better results than this "8C on steroid", both for achieving high playback levels and for linearizing the low‑frequency response at the same time.

I’m quite surprised they didn’t go in that direction, especially given their strong expertise in DSP processing.

We’ll have to see how it performs in the real world!

I'm still not quite sure we aren't getting trolled with this announcement ;)
It's definitely a produkt for a minimal audience, the 1% of the 1%.

It looks like the back is two 15" woofers with no space for inputs or controls. Do the inputs and wall plug connect on the underside?

Edit: I'm noticing now that there appears to be accent lighting at the bottom of the stand, at least in this rendering. So perhaps all of the inputs are on the stand.
