Well they obviously aren't made for nearfieldWhen I look at the height of the speakers with the stands, I wonder what kind of chair would be required to align the listener's ear with the tweeter.
Or maybe you can tilt them forward a bit.
I think the ole adage (if you have to ask, you can't afford them) comes into play here. That's why I asked
It makes sense to finally have an official price
This is true but for a retail product if the answer to “how much is it?” is “make me an offer”, there are lots of other speakers out there.I think the ole adage (if you have to ask, you can't afford them) comes into play here.
But curiosity isn't what killed the cat, I think?![]()
It's combination of accuracy and playback level is in entirely different class. It was stunning in every possible way. Nice folks running the company as well.We are all very curious of your second listening experiences now![]()

If you can afford these and the proper place to put them, the cost of the divorce might be inconsequential. And I'm just as sure they would fulfill my wife's audio nightmare
Unfortunately, the cost of a divorce is always proportionalIf you can afford these and the proper place to put them, the cost of the divorce might be inconsequential.![]()
You say that like it's a bad thing...For all normal mortals, those who want a stereo for a home, these are absurd.
Nope, not how it works... actually it is to the contrary. If you're poor, a divorce costs almost nothing. If you can afford these and the proper place to put them, the cost of the divorce might be inconsequential.![]()
Doesn’t this depend on what frequency range a speaker is cardioid?Oddball what Dirac ART does, I don’t think it’s needed for active speakers with cardioid. That’s the beauty of them, that they consider the room.
The 6c and 8c, in their rooms ie not very good hotel rooms, sounded amazing. Very similar tone but bigger scale with the 8c and both speakers have excellent bass. The 15c, while being in the middle of a giant hotel lobby may have challenges that cannot be overcome by any active speaker or active room treatment, if they were put in one of the giant conference rooms, I’m sure we’d be blown away. Even in the hotel lobby, I think it’ll be an amazing experience.
TBH, even if D&D don't sell any of these, they must be worth it as a marketing tool for the more accessible products, there's been a lot of online buzz. The last gossip is that 15c:
- is reasonably flat from 15 Hz to 20 kHz
- has 11000 W of external amps
- weighs 140 kg per speaker
- costs 130 grand
It demonstrates the level of commitment that Dutch & Dutch has demonstrated to making this a statement loudspeaker. Very rigorously designed subwoofer drivers. Purpose designed for the volume available in the enclosure. The SPL capability demonstrated and the low-end impact and power WITHOUT the benefit of boundary reinforcement from the walls was more than I would have expected. Yes it has two highly capable 15" subwoofer cones BUT the amount of internal volume devoted to the subs was arguably on the small side for two 15" woofers, which implies that a LOT of EQ was needed, especially given the lack of nearby walls. And when you're talking about (presumably) kilowatts, that can add up to lot of heat especially in a smallish sealed enclosure. So my guess is that some of the design choices went into thermal management so that heat itself would not become a premature limiting factor
They are still in prototype stage. The price is a moving target until they reach the production stageThat's why I asked
