Dune 2021

I tend to agree and prefer Part 1 as well.
Yes, I think I also like part 1 slightly more, but I didn't think there was too much action. Rather the opposite.. It was quite boring and long-winded at times. After all the hype about part 2 being better, I was a bit disappointed.

Nevertheless, it's still a very good movie and an absolute marvel to watch and listen to.

I tend to agree and prefer Part 1 as well.

There are significant differences from the book but they are surprising not damaging to the underlying themes of the novel. Strong references in Part 2 to the "religion" of the Fremen and Paul's messiahship are probably a setup for the third movie, presumably based on Herbert's sequel, Dune Messiah.
Just watched Part 2 this weekend. It has been a while since I watched Pt 1 so take this with a pinch of salt.

Pt 1 nailed the feel/ mood/ tone of the book and was beautiful.
Pt 2 was definitely not the result of the Director making a 5 hr single movie of Dune then having to cut it in half. I sensed the pressure was cranked up to Hollywood-ise it. Trying to be objective here but I also couldnt get over some of the diversions/ departures/ invented content vs the book.

I actively didnt like it. Messiah is IMHO unfilmable so the prospect of a sequel version of it fills me with dread TBH based on Pt 2.

Dune: Part 2 (2024) has that same peculiar “fuzzy” distortion, some say intentional, and I suspect it is, on dialog tracks as the prior Dune: Part 1 (2021.) It seems to change in severity from scene to scene, as in the 2021 film, just enough to make it even more distracting. Overall I’d say it’s less severe in the 2024 movie. Just an artifact one has to put up with. Other than that, we liked both, each leagues better than the comically disjointed Dune (1984.)
