You may want to use Google Translate. New driver, Mini-XLR connector, 2 sets of pads. Amazon actually does show that information.

DT1990 also has 3-pin mini XLR and 2 sets of pads so that did not change.

Alas... Beyerdynamic did not introduce 4-pin mini XLR (for balanced operation) but arguably it would not be needed.

Main differences are:
different driver type
lower impedance
higher sensitivity
different headband
Slightly lower treble peak but still not 'fixed' (probably closer to DT900proX treble)

I found some measurements. The producer pads (balanced pads) look similar to the old ones. But the mixing pads (analytical pads) look better. This time they do not only have less bass but also less treble.

Just ordered the DT1990-mkII.
Hope to review it around 16-Nov.

I am curious about the pads and how they differ from the DT1990 pads and how they measure (how bad the treble peak is now).
Ordered it from Beyerdynamic and will return it afterwards so no disassembly stuff.
Have a DT1990 here so easy to compare.

I am interested in your review. :) Looking at the measurements, the new 990 with analytical pads might turn out to be the "real" "upgrade" of the DT 880.

The review of the DT 1990 PRO mkII is now up:

If all goes as planned DT1770-mkII and DT770X will follow in a week or so.

maybe you can test the headphones with return of the jedi on laserdisc to see if the bass directional of the rancor scene presses against constant bass against your body with a real THX , not that home version the real THX

Thank you for your review. Not bad but still a bit disappointing for the rather high price. The new design looks great though and the headband padding looks comfortable.

Edit: It rather seems like a potentially reasonable idea to buy the old 1990 Pro and to use it with the new fleece disk and analytical pads.

Is the fleece disk of the 1990 MKII the same as the fleece disk of the 900 Pro X?

Don't have the 900 PRO X nor DT 1990 PRO mkII anymore so cannot check directly but the measured effect and color of the discs is different.
DT 900 disc is grey, DT 1990/1770-mII are black.
