Drop THX 789 with Hifiman Arya

Hi everyone,

I just bought this combo, and to my newbie ears, the sound is amazing. One thing I don't understand though, is that the volume seems awfully low? I'd have to set my Gain to 3 and the volume knob would have to be at around 2 o clock to get decent sound.

Is this normal?

With the power the amp should be able to put into the headphones I would be surprised if it wouldn't get quite loud.

I got a balanced cable for the headphones and the sound seems clearer and louder. Don't have a DAC that has balanced outputs though.

Don't think so. A friend recommended that I turn up Windows and Device (Apple Music etc) to 100/100. That's how I'm doing it now, and the sound seems loud enough. Have the Drop 789 at Gain 2 and around 12 o'clock.
