Looking for a high value stereo amp with volume control ("integrated") to run my new SB17NBAC35-8 midrange alu-woofers in an active 4-way setup with fairly high SPL capabilities (12" subwoofer below 70 Hz, 4 x 9" mid bass woofers with NC502MP). The mids are rated at a fairly modest 86.5 db @2,83V @1m. My listening distance is 3 m/10 ft in a relative large living room. Treble distortion or load dependency at high frequencies of the amp won't matter much since the relevant range will be approximately 300-2000 Hz.
Would you agree with Chat-GPTs notion that 100W/channel @ 8 ohms offers an appropriate level of headroom? It should result in 100 db at the listening point., taking into account said distance and the fact that two woofers play simultaneously. Of course I will never listen at such levels continously but maybe, maybe at some brief moment (not sure if would be just plain excessive). I do realize that having 50 W would logically mean 97 db.
Some TPA3255-based stereo amps seem able to output towards 100 W @ 8 ohms when fed from a 48 V PSU. E.g.. the Fosi V3 was measured here to 89 W I think. The fancier choices like Topping PA5 II ("plus" or not) and 3e Audio A5 don't seem to reach that highly power-wise (with stock PSUs). PA7 and A7 strike me as expensive in relation to NC252MP?
The question: better choices than Fosi V3? Maybe rather Fosi ZA3? AIyima A07 Max or A07 Premium? Other alternatives? Thanks! Having difficulties choosing... Of course, cool running amps that last long are better than the opposite.
