Douk Audio VU2PRO Needs Your Opinions!--The Upgraded Version of Douk Audio VU2.

Hello ASR members,
There are some updates about the VU2PRO now.

We will provide two versions, Blue and Yellow VU meter versions to choose from.
The good news is that the VU2PRO can detect the real input level, the bad news is that the sensitivity and precision are not the same excellent as the reference machine. Our engineers will spare no effort to make it better before releasing it.

We have a few questions that need your feedback. If you have any ideas, please feel free to leave your comments, thank you!
1. Does the VU meter dial scale need to be changed? If so, what scale do you recommend?

Scales are fine…

2. Is a MIC pickup function required or can be removed?

Can be removed to improve price in my opinion.

3. Is an optical fiber input and decoding function required or can be removed?

Remove, but really is not Pro without balanced inputs and will not be buying as a result. What is differentiation between VU2 and VU2 Pro? If only has RCA inputs, how is VU2Pro better than (a fixed) VU2?

4. The blue meter version is tentatively monochrome and the backlight color cannot be adjusted. The yellow meter version can freely adjust the backlight color. Do you have a different opinion?

Yellow looks nice, blue should be dark (McIntosh-like) blue or would simply make them white. Dark blue allows for the meter to used in low light conditions and still be usable. Otherwise, would not bother with blue at all.

1. Vu meter scale is fine for me.

2. Mic pickup can be removed. Very few people will buy something like this to not have something plugged in.

3. I would like optical input. Remote switchable inputs for rca, XLR and optical are what I am looking for with this. If I had to live without one optical would be the one.

4. As long as the color is similar to the douk vu22, I would be happy. That Vu meter has great options and colors.

My main needs are XLR, rca and optical inputs. Switchable by remote. Yellow Vu meter. No XLR is also a deal breaker for me, as my dac I use only has XLR out.

Would be interested in update as well.

What output interfaces do you want? Why do we need these interfaces?

@Douk Audio Is this product finally released?
I am strugglingto find in the market a simple vu meter to connect to the rec-out of my yamaha a-s501. I just need a product with rca line level input and nice vu meters. Don't need to switch inputs, don't want to introduce elements in the speaker path. Does anyone offer this simple thing at a reasonable price? Douk audio vu2 look a bit ugly, very little backlit vu meter, not so nice as vu3 pro.

The vu22 has a lot of adjustability with the lighting, dim to bright and a variety of color choices. Looks are subjective obviously but I don’t mind it at all. I use my headphone amp in preamp mode to drive it instead of passing through, I don’t mind not having the meter when I’m listening to headphones.

I do like the looks of the Neohippo I use for my surrounds better but I don’t like running the speakers through it as much as I worry a little about the additional failure points I’m introducing.

Thanks! I guess the douk vu22 does all i asked for... but aesthetically I preffer bigger and rectangular vu meters. The douk VU2 guess should be fine despide I will not use the switch function. The videos I saw the lights are quite weak.

That picture I posted is dimmed to the fullest, it gets way too bright for me otherwise. Surprised to hear folks say they are weak, that isn't my take at all. Small displays, that I agree with you and is why I like the displays of the Neohipo better.

Last night, fully dimmed

I meant the douk audio VU2, not the VU22 you own,tha one is fine with respect to lighting, it is just not my taste circled vu meters
The VU2 is Rca line in/out 4x1, rectangular vu meter as i wish, but the lighting is weak. See their oficial video and also Amir's review literally said "When turned on it lights up with the standard yellow glow. Alas, it only lights up the middle third and nothing like the uniform yellow their advertising shows. A horizontal bulb that covers 1/4 of the meter provides lighting with no diffuser (it is diffused itself)."

I forgot about the vu2, I do remember reading the review here which is probably why.

Hello, thank you for all attention to our VU2PRO. As far as I know, the VU2PRO's features are basically finalized. While the optical input has been removed, the RCA and XLR inputs remain. Like the VU3PRO Blue version, it will also measure the actual output signal, making the VU meter no longer just a visual decoration. Stay tuned. :)

Hi, thanks for you attention to our VU2PRO. It is still in development, here is the test video of the VU meter accuracy

The Watts would only be accurate in a certain impedance.
Can the meter be switched between 4ohm and 8ohm for instance ?
The bottom meter scale makes sense, the upper one does not.
Assuming we are looking at peak levels ?

I have two mono blocks, a mono (single large meter) would be nice! :)
