It's problematic! I have only quarter of the volume knob's range to use with my Sony MDR-MV1 on low gain.

Can this issue be fixed with drivers of firmware update?

What kind of pot was used for volume: linear or logarithmic?

Hi, it's normal, the volume of the K5 is adjusted by analog potentiometer, and the output volume of the PC will be always the max.

This is a really bad design decision as it's assuming everyone is using this DAC in a desktop system where you are sitting within arms reach of it.
If you have it connected to a PC and using wireless keyboard+mouse sitting away from the PC and DAC (like I am) you have to get up and walk over to it every time you want to adjust the volume. So nobody with a system configuration like this can buy this DAC with an analog/physical only pot.
