Are these companies all doing this just to separate a guy and his money? (I've got a wife who does that already...)

Some do it to make money. Some do it because they are afraid not to (as to get the wrath of subjectivist audiophiles). Some don't know any better.

Currently, this is a feature that is easy to add. Put some sockets in there and that gives you a marketing bullet. I don't blame them for this. But don't go thinking they have somehow proven this.

Why does it always come to this? You don't trust my decades of knowledge on this front, but all of a sudden, would have believed my subjective assessments?

In the review of the USB reclocker, I did listen. Yet, person after person said I had not. When I repeated that I had, the challenge moved to what speakers I have, how good my ears are, etc.

The reality is that you should NOT believe anything I say about the sound in any type of sighted comparison like this. It is trivial for me to say I heard no difference. Or I heard a difference. You have no way of knowing what is right and wrong.

Lamp cord is enough. Just make sure it is 12 gauge. If you are arguing about that, then you have larger issues to face than this topic.

Well that, and I think we've all had enough for a while. You need to speak with your own understanding if you are going to try again, not just make unsupported claims based on the unsupported claims of others. Seriously, work at understanding more, and stop focusing on arguing.

One can question what is said by others if we would know their interest in doing it.
Most of those people quoted (and named) have an economic interest in selling things, even OP amps of different makes, because they make money on those selling it even when made by other manufacturers.
We just don't know, what their interest really are...
