For example: apple music streams lossless format.
So why would I select dolby or dts decoding on my avr if Apple does not code in either of those formats. Atmos aside.
To my ears and IMO either sound muffled and flat.
Dolby has way too much grey noise and dts sounds drab and flat.
Using an older harman kardon avr and nsp sounds no better than dts.
Other opinions please. Is it my avr? Or maybe my ears but to me stereo settings sound crisp and fuller through my klipsch speakers.

Those are mostly for movies. Leave your music on stereo.

You can definitely use Dolby Surround or Auro-3D upmixers for 2 channel music. Just make sure to turn on center spread for Dolby Surround.

That makes a big difference with the dolby music settings on my avr thanks for the tip doesn't sound as tinie as the stereo settings on my avr which I am beginning to think needs an upgrade it's about 9 years old and not performing the way I want compared to friends Sony or Onkyo my harman kardon is an old Pro logic unit which is I think my biggest problem and weakest link
