This video was really helpful as I have been learning about Op Amps lately.

I'm pretty content with the cheap stock Op Amps that came with my amp verse a $200 set that I ordered for it and I use the cheap ones.

I do feel you could probably color sound with Op Amps but it doesn't seem like it is worth it.

Thanks again for a video

@amirm please tell me the whole video was one big piss take and giant middle finger towards the usual suspects, because it sure seems like it. :p

Oh, and before you roll your opamps... you better walk them properly.
Not ever seeing an op-amp walk, that video sure is spooky! :D

It wasn't actually. It was genuinely motivated by the many comments in my Douk A5 review. I thought my usual audience knows that these things don't make a difference. Then realized that I had last tested these a long time ago so decided to do a fresh one in the context of what was asked (the A5).

Ah hah hah hahaha, seems like I underestimated your scientific uprightness. If that was me making the test and video, it might've looked the same, but would really have been what I described above. :p

I bet its "legs" are awfully tired by the end of the vide and on the verge of breaking! :D
This should answer any technical questions:

One meter per Stayin' Alive. New measurement unit just dropped; as a German I hereby declare it DIN 69069. This shall forever be the standard against which all DIP8 opamps shall be measured.

There needs to be a name for that unit of measure, and I think that distance (1.072642 m) should henceforth be called a Travolta.

I agree, and there's no need to be overly exact. In the military, there's no distinction between yard and meter for example, because at the usual rifle firing distances, the two are practically the same. Let's be equally generous here, and declare DIN EN ISO 69069 as "a DIP8 or equivalent integrated circuit walking a distance of approximately one meter or yard, relative to musical tempo and fidelity; referencing DIN 45500. Shall we? :p

Official approval assumed, we could even be as bold as declaring it one ASR. Or Travolta if you will. Haha

Of course it has been the better opamps of the last decade that made some of the exceptional products possible. But better opamps won't correct any design issues or weaknesses in other parts. I don't expect a discrete op-amp to be better even if they are more expensive.

It would be interesting to do a more standalone test of different opamps to compare their performance, although a lot of that is published in the datasheets.

Good job Amir. Keep up the good work. Your op amp swapping measurements were as expected. :)

Now I'm going to read the comments on your video on Youtube's comment section, to see if it has attracted any hard core op amp swapping believers preaching their message.I have to admit that I find there is a certain entertainment value in reading those comments.:);)

But what about "spectral-x contamination":
"What's also interesting is that, with the modern parts released in the past decade, what's being heard is only just measurable with some of the world's most powerful audio analysis equipment. If you've read anything in the last decade about the leading edges of scientific research into human consciousness, and the holographic, higher-dimensional nature of the reality that mystics, physicists, and brain physicians seem to agree that we "really" live within [4,5], then you might find this disparity easier to comprehend."
"Hard-Line Objectivists will claim that the tiny levels being measured are utterly insignificant alongside, say, the grosser distortions of loudspeakers. This assessment, too, is too simplistic. The size of something, enumerated in one dimension alone, does not necessarily describe its potency. Homeopathy, biological warfare, holography, and military intelligence, to name but a few, are fields in which exceedingly small amounts of an active constituent can act very powerfully for good or ill. Just so, signals below the floor of various flavors of noise and distortions picked up on the way are by no means automatically masked or made inaudible."

Homeopathy,

If you show me that
Say, homeopathy works, then I will change my mind
I'll spin on a fucking dime
I'll be embarrassed as hell, but I will run through the streets yelling
It's a miracle! Take physics and bin it!
Water has memory!
And whilst its memory of a long lost drop of onion juice seems infinite
It somehow forgets all the poo it's had in it!
You show me that it works and how it works
And when I've recovered from the shock
I will take a compass and carve 'Fancy That' on the side of my cock.

To put it another way, you are going to have to do a lot better than that word salad of new age woo post. Here of all places.

EDIT : It looks like you might be quoting something. If that is correct:

1 - You might want to make that more obvious, and perhaps include a link.
2 - You can apply my comments instead to the source of your quote.

If you did not get it, my post was meant to be sarcastic, numbnuts.

A mystic, a physicist, and a brain physician walk into a bar and order a few beers. The mystic says he's drunk, the physicist tells him why, the brain physician tells him what it does to him and the bartender says 'they were 0% alcohol'.

Look up Poes law. And see point 3 of my sig.
