For some people it will matter during sighted listening. Otherwise...no.

I doubt the Exposure 3510 sounds better than a Sony QS player from the late 90s - that have same drive and display. The other internal stuff is different and will very likely sound ... transparent (if not intentionally "different" e. g broken by design). You pay for the optical and haptical difference of the device. It's up to you to decide whether it's worth it. The cheap drive at least is easy to obtain and to replace.
