Rosalía is the prime example of a marketing operation on top of a very talented artist.

I don't listen to music in my own language, I find it boring to no end most of the time; and I have to admit that poorly pronounced Spanish, no matter the accent, really gets under my skin.

Not being able to physically stand a second of El Mal Querer nor Motomami, I have to acknowledge that she has managed to capture an entire zeitgeist.

I'm literally the opposite of anything remotely close to her target audience, but arguing that she's not talented would be an absolute libel. Fair is fair.

I'm having a hard time seeing that, at least in the posted video and I've never heard her before.
Anyway she sings in that monotone style so popular today, I don't think she used more than 3 or 4 note thru the whole thing, so I'm don't know how good she can really sing.
A good enough dancer I guess, but I'm no critic there.
Did she write and compose the music?
I'm not trying to be negative but just trying to see the talent claimed?

Try El Mal Querer. That is her most brilliant record.

Fair warning: Flamenco, modernized or not, is not for everyone.

Come on, the Beatles shattered the charts with "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and never looked back. Stardom is fickle at best and her audience is 14 to 25 yr old girls/women for the most part. She is pretty, cool and has enough talent to capture her fans admiration.

I think old mate was asking about Rosalía. But lazily, and exactly as someone might somewhat negatively describe Taylor. Interesting data though, billions and billions of streams!

Edit: I doubt mere empirical data will influence naysayers, they will discount same and still argue vehemently from personal preference.

I agree, it's a great thing and very important that all types of humans get a fair shot with their music-- you shouldn't have to be photogenic to succeed, but I don't think it's controversial to say that she has an advantage in the industry in that she is very photogenic.

My 14 and 11 year old daughters don't like Taylor Swift. I really don't get the fascination with her, to be honest. The tracks I've heard of hers have had kind of processed sounding vocals which I felt took the emotion out of the voice.
