Does a tv act as a baffle extension?

So I have speakers towed in and pretty much right up against my speakers, I was wondering if this technically works as a baffle extension and/or what effect this would have on audio quality/sound stage?

Ignore the wires and tchotchkes

I think if anything you will get a slight reinforcement of low-mids...

Easy enough to test. Take a measurement at the listening position with the TV in place, and with it removed.

Kemmler is correct. In my days with PSB Speakers, the usual adage was to have at least 6" between speaker and...

In my own room, my speakers are 2.5' in front of a 55" flat screen, and I often throw a blanket over the screen to reduce the audible glare, though it seems to affect higher frequencies than just the mid.

It looks like your Speakers a pulled forward a bit, so no, not an extension of the baffle.

It may cause some diffraction effects in a good sweep, but acoustic specialists seem to be uncertain how audible such diffraction might be.

That said it is good practice to put a bit more space, if you can, between your Speakers and the Screen. Such an acoustician recommended 1’ as his standard minimum space, suggesting more would be better.

But still, he hedged a bit acknowledging it might not be audible. *shrugs
