Does a front baffle damage affects sound?

Used is not automatically bad, but damaged may be. I got minimaly damaged B&W (in the past Millennium), because the price was very tempting, and i knew the dealer privately. The damages were optically just minor scratches in the wood veneer (they fell sideways in the shop). And yet, two new tweeters were necessary, despite being visually OK. These tweeters seem to be B&W "Achilles heel" anyway...
