I just checked into Doctorjohn Cheaptubeaudio blog to discover that Doctor John passed away in April 2025. He had been ill for a year or so, slowing down his personal contributions, although he has other contributing writers; maybe they will keep things going, who’s to tell. I was there for the doctor.
Doctor John maintained an opinionated approach toward audio: he did things his way. His blog covered a lot of territory outside of audio, including food and travel. He had great recommendations for music, primarily classical.
His attitude towards cables was not scientific, but inspiring in his own way. He derided “audiophile” cables, preferring pro audio brands. Similarly he dismissed heavy RCA connectors in favor of lightweight models. Yongsheng…
At any rate, I will miss visiting his site and reading his viewpoints.
