Do you prefer floorstanding speakers or bookshelf speakers? Which do you find sound generally better at the same pricepoint?

... but with this acoustical lenses in front of the tweeter they should be rotated 90 degree (upwards position) to get a smooth horizontal coverage.
Of course. But if you are using bookshelf speakers, would care or be able to tell? Sometimes it's down to what fits on the shelf.

I would buy speakers matching to the size of bookshelf, of course. On the other hand I have seen speakers placed deep into the book shelve with pictures placed in front to hide them ...

With some, that'd be ideal.

I prefer floorstanders. But pricepoint is the catch. If you take the money that a larger cabinet and extra drivers cost and use it to improve a bookshelf the only things better about the floorstander would be more spl and the low bass.

All very true, unfortunately bookshelf positioning will compromise serious listening in regards to imaging, etc in ways that I would only accept if absolutely necessary. I've never found a speaker who's sound in those aspects couldn't be greatly improved by free air mounting, ie out in the room away from the side and rear walls. JMHO

so many of them have rear ports, the term needs to be investigated
Ah, it’s hard to find true bookshelf speakers; either the lenses are oriented incorrectly, or the port is in the wrong place...
And not everyone has books for their shelves at home these days:

When I had to place speakers in a bookshelf I always filled the holes at the side with books, and on top of the speaker as well, if possible. Kind of soffit wall mounting, reduces reflections and resonances.

Sometimes I dream of shelves around my 24" wide speakers and 200-liter wall-mounted subwoofers. Unfortunately, the windows and doors in the walls prevent this.
