Do You Miss Knobs and Dials and Switches?

The brand has been gone a long time from an audio market point of view. It’s quite a tragic story, actually. But I’m covered for this lifetime and maybe two more. Two tr-2060s, one tr-2045, the tr-2080 I shared plus a tcd310 cassette deck and a couple of R2R decks I’m working through a restoration cycle. Hail the knobs and switches forever That said I do have a pi- based mode audio device doing my stored media and radio steaming .

A really rag-tag Tandberg collection here. Better'n none, though. 
Also a 64 (or maybe it's a 64X... I don't recall) carcass that I picked up at a consignment store and sat on a shelf. Made a halfhearted attempt to get into it to see if the 12AX7s had been scavenged, but never followed through. There's a nice Tandberg multiband portable radio here, too, I forget the model, though... No photos handy of those two.

I sure do like that Scott StereoMaster integrated amplifier you pictured there. It simply has it going on.A really rag-tag Tandberg collection here. Better'n none, though.

It's a nice little amplifier. ppEL84 stereo integrated. I started the rehab on it when I bought it, but it still needs some work to be a 'daily driver' (which speaks only to my own laziness). 
As you can see, I've never even cleaned up the faceplate. It is in very good condition; just dirty.

I -- FWIW -- like the "entry level" HH Scott 222 amps better than the bigger & 'spensiver (then and now) 299 amps.

Since the subject of this thread is knobs
I will note, and confess, that I like the milled (?) brass knobs better than the plastic ones.
That said, the price was right for the 222c I have, especially since it came with the wood case.
I also picked up an LT-10 (mono tuner, kit form) with case, repurposing that case for another HH Scott piece in theaccretion collection. 
Both of those were field collected at our semi-annual NEVEC (then "NEARC") swapmeets.

Man that brings back memories. It was my first real rig. Happen to walk into a shop (early 80s) when some loud obnoxious guy was wheeling in a loaded system one 600 series rack he was trading in for an upgrade - 610, 620, 630 and even the power bar timer thingy - bought it for $650 - hooked it up to some Braun speakers with the metal grills <sigh>

Indeed! I sold these when they were new. Good times!that said, I have an example here of what must have been one of its inspirations - the Yamaha CR-1000

I loved the look of H. H. Scott gear. First real Hi Fi I ever saw in someones home was a grammar school friend fathers. He invited me to his house to listen to a new Beach Boys album and when I saw a bunch of Scott gear there and heard the sound quality I was HOOKED. I was maybe 12 or 13 then so it was many years before I could own anything decent of my own but the experience sticks in my mind.
I can't remember the last time I touched a button on any of my equipment. I used to kneel in front of it, interacting with it constantly. That completely changed when I started streaming stuff around 2004 or so with the Squeezebox (not Lyrion) ecosystem. I like equipment to be compact, minimalist and out of the way these days. Having to touch anything other than the tablet touchscreen or remote indicates that something is going wrong... and annoys me.
Same here, going to a friend's house and his old man had JVC with JBL Century - that was all it took for me to become a lifelong junkie at sixteen.
Following Xmas went to the neighbours for drinks, their son worked for an electronics wholesaler and had got a full Akai stack system and Technics SL1200 on his staff discount. First time I heard a CD - Dark Side Of The Moon. He only had 3 CDs at that point.

Woefully nondescript could be my epitaph!... and, in the case of FOSI' trademark'd orange knobs (w/a dimple.. also in orange); they are woefully nondescript!
So, I have been giving them a fosicure by filling the dimples using my mate's yellow nail-polish!

My Dad had a Tandberg compact cassette deck... I spent many hours playing with it.
Alas Tandberg is no more They got acquired by Cisco in 2010, their stuff lives on as part of the Cisco TelePresence product line.
Guess someone could buy the brand back from Cisco.
