Streaming is a no-no as it uses more battery on portable devices. Besides, there's a chance of things getting removed from the service whilst my FLAC/mp3/wave files will sort of be there forever (I have backups on external hdd)
Pathetic
My goodness, another ad hominem and strawman attack.Sound like a plan:
1. sell audio gear
2. invest
3. keep myself amused by whistling tunes of moral rectitude for the next few decades
4. cash in and buy a shit-load of CDs
*I mostly stream
What's pathetic here? Face it, there are certain crimes that won't be investigated. The kind of Illegal downloading you're all up in arms about is generally ignored by the RIAA, mainly because [as previously indicated] the laws concerning this "crime" are nowhere near as black or white as you want them to be. That's why's there's courts and lawyers and legal disagreements and unexpected outcomes in court. That's why RIAA can lose cases and that's why RIAA doesn't pursue certain cases.Pathetic
You are arguing about universal laws and their validity on an audio forum. That is what I call pathetic. What's pathetic here?
What "Universal Laws"?You are arguing about universal laws and their validity on an audio forum. That is what I call pathetic.
Property rights are foundational to a functional society. What "Universal Laws"?

You don't know what ad hominem means, do you?My goodness, another ad hominem and strawman attack. ...
You don't understand reductio ad absurdum either?... Where on earth did I say sell audio gear or any of the other above nonsense? Please show the quote where I said sell audio gear, whistle or whatever other total gibberish you just stated? ...
I address the economics at post #180. You are banging on about opportunity cost. It isn't a difficult concept, certainly not worth hyperventilating about.... Instead of making up the above listed items how about answering these questions yes or no:
Are automatic investing programs like 401K’s a good way to accumulate wealth?
When you spend money do you lose the opportunity to invest it?
Do automatic spending plans like music and video streaming services, software subscriptions, car payments, etc make it easy to spend money?
Are “low monthly payments for life” a myth because those opportunity costs are tremendous?
Are many Americans without sufficient retirement savings?
Further reading (for/by the guilty parties) can be accessed at this link.In a document filed last month, Nirvana asked the judge to dismiss the case and said the statute of limitations for child pornography had passed. …It also said the child pornography allegations were “not serious.” If it was, it said in court documents, millions of Americans who owned the album or a poster with the photo “are guilty of felony possession of child pornography.”
That's a bit much. Assuming that your current social context is "universal" could also be called pathetic. I'd just call it ignorant/ahistorical.You are arguing about universal laws and their validity on an audio forum. That is what I call pathetic.

Law ≠ morality. So performing an illegal act is OK so long as you don't get caught and punished? Face it, acting unethically makes one unethical, even if you don't get caught.
Seems like $10/month to get access to 70 million titles in CD/Hi Rez is very thrifty way to enjoy music. The hardware for good sound far exceeds that 10 year investment for most people here.My goodness, another ad hominem and strawman attack.
