omg, i can't imagine what goes on when we leave! we just turn off whatever we stream. the gear stays on otherwise, 24/7. im surprised it hasn't gotten us kicked out yet.You have to give your system some personal space and long-term stability to express itself.
By leaving your system on and free-range during your absence will make it sound warmer, when you comeback.
Leaving your system on may also help keep thieves away... or invite them in for a meal!

Do you listen to music while you eat a meal?

We never play music while eating if not eating alone. We both play music when cooking and prepping. My wife’s tastes in music are diverse too. Some old county and lots of 80’s to current pop. I mainly listen to classical, some jazz, a little acoustic folky music.
Wife plays from either iPhone or a large Marshall speaker. Whenever she feels like it.
Since she still works, goes to gym, and runs I wait until it is just me home to fire up the system.
My system is upstairs in a loft area. Used to sit locked in sweet spot. Sometimes with back to speakers if working. Was listening less and less.
Now I run all over the house while listening. The loft opens up to entry foyer and great room. Fills whole house with music.
Sometimes I hear something that really draws me in. Take a seat and listen. Cannot even see the speakers. But very live rooms.
Listening a lot more this year.
Some run the TV a lot. I prefer just music. But silence has its place too.

I turn usually my tube amplifier on and tell ROON to something like a DSD version of “you must believe in spring” or kind of blue during prep. The mood is high in anticipation of a nice dinner date. I start screwing up here and there. Something starts burning and by the time im done with prep ROON has meandered into some 17 minute long distorted violin solo from a 1970’s fusion album, my shirt is covered in grease splatter, my hair drenched in swet. I stress eat my half ruined meal quickly after annoyingly turning off said tube amplifier.
I'm fairly agnostic about music during meals but I very much enjoy the right music during sex.
At 75 though it's mainly pretty slow.
Got into the habit of putting on Italian music while enjoying a self-made pizza (dough included, of course) always keeping the WAF in mind. Somehow, it all tastes even better this way.
