Do NCore have buzzing noise?

Hi,

On Audiophonics, on the page for the PA-250NC, there are two customer comments (in french) about a buzzing noise coming from the module, even when it is off:
https://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/ampl...-13545.html
One customer thinks it's a bit annoying, another writes it is faint and only audible close to the unit.

Do NCore amplifier owners notice such a thing? Is it annoying?

Cheers.

My two PA-250NCs from Audiophonics have arrived this week - they do have the buzzing sound but it is not noticeable from my listening distance (2m)
The buzz is coming from the SMPS and apparently this is known by Hypex
I absolutely love the sound of these amps, by far the best I have ever heard; very strongly recommended!

I have SMPS600 and SMPS1200A400 and neither emit any noise/sound or light to signify whether they are on.

My Apollon NC800 SL (2 x Hypex Ncore NC500 + SMPS1200A700) is dead silent. No acoustic or electrical noises emitted when idle.

I just discovered this thread. @daftcombo already asked me earlier, but as far as I'm concerned:

- No audible buzz with Audiophonics PA-S125NC (NC122MP)
- No audible buzz with Audiophonics PA-M250NC (NC250MP), for both units I had.

Then, I sticked my ear right on each unit and heard some very weak electric noise. Not an issue to think about, IMHO.

Many laptops emit something called “coil whine” - a faint high pitched noise emitted from electrical components; audible if you put your ear right next to it, but it’s not typical heard at the typical use position (1’)

However, once you’ve heard it (or trained to hear it) it can be hard to ignore.

Measurements at 1cm from the offending component typical demonstrates SPL of 31-32dB(Z) in a quiet room bedroom at night (~30dB)

I have a setup with an nc502MP, an nc252MP and a single nc250MP. I have a quite loud buzzing when I have disconnected all inputs and only connected the speakers. In addition, I hear a weak tone around 5 kHz. My old class B power amp was dead silent

So you can be sure it's the amp.
Did you try plugging the speakers and the amp on separate outlets?

Only the amp is connected to power. The 50 Hz buzz and a 5 kHz tone is audible from about 10 feet distance.

The maker of the amp is also quite puzzled about this. I use 6 ohms speakers, which is low but not that low

Yeah sorry, I had in mind my active speakers & my pre-amp at the moment.
Of course, there shouldn't be any noise. Does something come from the unit or only from the spealers?

It only from the speakers, a 50-60 Hz and a 5 kHz tone. I tried switching off everything in my apartment except for my amp. It seemed a bit less but still audible from about 10 feet - perhaps a bit further. The 50 Hz, I can live with but the 5 kHz from my tweeters are annoying

Very annoying indeed. That kind of noise eats your SNR badly.
